Weird but sigh of relief soap opera with Morejon...
I had him pegged as a possible piece in a Lynn deal; trading cheap controllable upside for actual ability to throw innings NOW.
Pads have too many "2B/SS" utility guys and "young top prospect SP" (plus Guerra) who are inconsistent & not stretched out "enough" for an elite playoff contending team.

... but Morejon and his "3 IP" potential gone ON a bullpen day doesn't help. Pomeranz MAYBE 1+ IP, but only in a specific situation. It's basically Baez & Patino to cover 5 IP...

Has to be smoke and mirrors to cover bullpen days today and Monday ... harder without Morejon even if it is just his 2-3 innings.
Need everyone to put up a decent 2-3 innings ... not going to be easy. A lot of pressure on Paddack tomorrow to go deep and split the pen usage. Tingler did leave some wiggle room for a call-up for Monday .... Lucchesi? Cararena? ... either could start.
Will not be Lynn ...pitching tonight for Texas.

After 2 IP ... I hope Baez goes (at least) 3!
Ump with pitcher's strike zone (ie. huge) ... took the bat out of Myers and Cronie's hand last inning ...

Well, Baez - Perdomo - Patino has done their job for 6 innings ... only one run at COORS.
Padres are getting some singles but need that impact hit.

Grant (always) and Orsillo are getting way to "homer" on some stuff. Even though the official scorer change the Tatis error to a hit ... that was a clear an error as could be. They just whined about that should have been an error because Tatis when a long way to field the ball ... that is purely a protect Tatis (at the expense of Patino) bias.
I did not think Tatis went that much further than any good SS but more importantly he cleanly fielded the ball and had ample time to throw out the runner. He blew his foot work and launched the ball way way off target ... a good throw would have worked ... that is an error on the throw.

Seems to me a growing laxity on defensive players having to make ML plays ... plays that should be made even if "hard" .... easier to give a hit I guess. Seen too many hits given a balls directly to fielders that they boot or let get past them because the ball was hit hard. Worse when it is a supposedly "elite" defender who is just getting his stats and reputation padded by those calls ... defense is part of his pay for being "elite".
Frustrated.
