Yes...he will get paid.But Closers already have a negative stigma because many established ones just tank all of a sudden(Kimbrel) and in other cases guys come out of nowhere and get the same job done as the big dollar guys.
So I'm just thinking at his age with some injury history combined with this Covid limited season he's probably looking at a 2-3 year deal as opposed to a 4-5 year deal had this been a normal contract year for him.Having said that,after we win the World Series I could see the Padres making him a fair offer and trying to keep him.
"On the other hand",with Pom/Pagan/Adams et al. paying good money for a Closer may not be the way to go.
Do we get Castillo back?
Does Guerra improve?
Does Patino stay in the major league Pen?
Too many variables to consider right now...let's just win it all and then worry about it eh?
