Just in on MLBTR, Kim is a Padre. No contract details yet.

Let the speculation dive even further with the CHC.

The Padres will owe a release fee on top of the contract that will be paid directly to the Heroes. That fee will equal 20 percent of the contract’s first $25MM, 17.5 percent of the next $25MM and 15 percent of anything spent thereafter.

Seems as Campusano's bat > Nola's. I would rather not trade Campusano with the cupboard essentially bare in the minors with both Driscoll and Hunt gone.

At some point they have to stop trading their farm system away. Can't believe they would trade Campusano. This is like Peanuts where Lucy pulls the football away. We have these great drafts and follow these players with great anticipation that one day they will be Padres. Then as soon as they get tantalizingly close . . . we trade them for a 32 year old. Uh! I don't like it.

Kim's deal ~7-8m/y  >=4yrs <6yrs

Probably why including either Contreras or Caratini to the deal is in play. They both can hit at the ML level now.

Campusano is a great prospect but really has only hit at A+ ... so maybe a bit away before impacting the ML with his bat. Padres are apparently in the win now mode.

We are definitely walking a very fine line between win now and NOT be screwed later. I like we are opening some 40 man slots but we will not have the luxury of high picks in future drafts to make up for these prospect losses.

I don't see Campusano being in the mix unless we get back Contreras and that might be too big of a salary bump for the Padres to handle.  More than likely we are looking at Morejon and some longer range prospects to absorb the cost of taking the full salary of Darvish over the next 3 years.   Or it could be Davies, Stammen or Pham to offset some of the money or have the Cubs take on some money for the 1st year of Darvish's contract.  Who knows?

This is typical Preller wheeling and dealing - just rumors then BAM!  In my mind, must keep Gore, Abrams and Campusano - everyone else is pretty much available as long as we still commit to international signings and making good draft picks (and developing them).  With a healthy Snell, Darvish and Kim we are right there with the Dodgers now and in the future!  Contreras is actually pretty good although I like Campusano better as a hitter for average/OBP than Contreras.

Padres “Deep” Into Talks To Acquire Yu Darvish, Have Also Discussed Contreras, Caratini

2:03pm: There’s “growing optimism” that the two sides will complete a deal, tweets USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, adding that an agreement could come together as soon as today.

Well, I was wrong about signing Kim and probably wrong about not trading Campusano.  Certainly, Profar is not coming back and probably no money for Rosenthal or Yates.  Let's see where the Darvish trade goes but I'm hoping we don't have to give up Campy and just get Caratini back as part of the trade where the salary dump is more important to the Cubs than the prospects.

Wonder how the Campusano felony charge in Georgia factors into negotiations.
