All things being equal ... probably would sign with SD but all things are unlikely to be equal. A ML deal probably is his #1 priority .. then the odds of being added to a ML roster out of ST/mid-season would be #2 priority if he signs a minor league deal.
I would question why the Padres DFA'd him at the end of he season instead of Mateo and now think he would displace Mateo ... so a minor league deal would seem the most logical for the Padres but Allen would have to be OK with the summer in EP (not SD).
Still in this market and at this point at the beginning in ST, if Allen clears waivers ... sees the OF in NY is pretty complete with depth ... he may not want to sign back with NYY if any other offers are out there ... so SD might hold some interest.

Rumor is there’s yet another move coming.
Speculation is Hader.....
Jud has spoken again on Twitter.
For those who don’t know this guy showed up on Twitter and every time he posts a cryptic tweet about Preller something soon happens.
He will say something like “Preller is a madman” and the next day a trade occurs.
It’s never specific.....but he’s been consistent.
Some think it’s Chris Paddack.
So last night he said “it just never stops man”.
Guess we will see...

It could make sense......every move we’ve made has been a 2-3 years move to beat the Dodgers.
A dominant LH reliever sure fits the bill.
Plus it would explain Preller loading up on “too many” arms.
Maybe a 3 for 1 with Morejon the main piece?

I don't know why everyone wants to trade Morejon. They have already traded one of their top pitching prospects and I don't think they are going to trade another. I could be wrong (again). I would think Paddock, Baez, Guerra, Stammen, and Lawson, or some combination like that. AJ keeps talking about sustained success. They will need Morejon for sustained success IMHO.

Only reason I assumed Morejon is because the Brewers are playoff contenders.
They are gonna want immediate help...not prospects.
I just think it would have to at least cost Morejon or Baez plus.
I like Morejon.....hope he isn’t traded.
But Hader is a Dodger killer in the playoffs IMO.

But if AJ thinks Gore is ready I guess it could be Paddack.
But otherwise I don’t see him trading anyone suspected to be in Opening day rotation.

Most pundits seem to think any team will have to use at least 8 SP over the course of the season .. to handle the innings requirement / injuries. Padres think themselves contenders for the LAD and will need to win as many games as possible. Padres still have uncertainty over Lamet’s health (innings load), innings load and effectiveness of Gore - Morejon - Weathers, major SP quality / readiness drop after the top eight.
1. Hard to see the Padres trading any SP that may be valuable to their own success
2. Hard to see MILW consider any of the Padres prospects as key to contention when the Padres don’t ... and most themselves have questions about innings load
3. Hard to see the Padres trading Paddack while his value is low after a disappointing 2020 ... or MILW paying a premium for a pitcher coming off a season with an ERA near 5.00 ... they see the same “issues” with spin rate, command, lack of 3rd pitch.
Hader is an All-Star level closer on a “fair contract” and under control for a few years ... MILW wants to contend now in a weak NL Central .... why trade him for any menu of “prospects” and lessen their ability to contend now? If they did, is it because see some deterioration in Hader? Is there a different issue with Hader motivating the willingness of MILW moving Hader?

Unless there could be two moves together. Lets say its Paddack and other pieces for Hader. Then Preller turns around and signs Odorizzi to take Paddacks place.
Did read an article the other day where Siedler said, we are NOT a small market team. SD is the 8th largest city in the country. So maybe money is no longer an issue with SD baseball!

Money is always an issue. Side note ... 8th largest city is misleading since from a marketing / media perspective the Padres (as I recall) are in the 20ish market. Add that even with the higher profile team the TV contract is fixed in place for 10 more years. Should get some better advertising monies and improved attendance.
I still am looking for logic of a contending MILW that would move them to want to trade Hader ... for anything less than a return that will have an immediate offset at a high probability. IF Paddack is that good ...wouldn’t he be better for the Padres to keep as their #5 than adding a RP to a pretty stacked pen then going out for another #5 (Odorizzi is not that great). The Hader / Odorizzi combo would be another $20MM+ in playroll.
For me. Padres may like to add Hader .... but just not seeing a return that improves the 2021 Brewers (or even keeps the same).
Now on July 31 ... MILW is out of the playoff hunt ... a trade for Padre prospects may be appealing.

Funny how all these rumors from supposed burner accounts come out right after a reputable reporter talks about something. Dennis Lin talked about Hader on the Darren Smith show yesterday and suddenly this guy is tweeting again. Why anyone chooses to believe these accounts that are so obviously fake is beyond me. All the reputable reports say that the Padres have talked to the Brewers, but the asking price is too high and nothing is close.
I'll trust those reports over random twitter rumors and IG posts from players supposed girlfriends.
