Minor League Discussion

I am hoping for Hightower over Tears but either one showing what he can do on the field is great news.  Don't expect Roberts to stay long in LE - should be a quick promotion to Fort Wayne.

Montesino showed promise early but then got hurt and never was the same.  Baseball is a tough game to play!

I am greedy ... all three as soon as possible!

Roberts and Tears being college types ... both have a chance to move to FW fairly quickly if they don't go their directly.

LE made a lot of moves yesterday ... mainly pitchers between them and ACL. However, two position players:

Kavares Tears ... LHH RF ... 4th round pick (2024) and #7 on MLBPipeline's Padres Top 30. A ton of upside as with speed, arm, defense, power plus with the usual question of if he can hit. Made a fine debut going 2 for 4 with a HR.

Alex McCoy (who?) ... RHH LF ... NDFA (2024) out of Hofstra. Big dude at 6'6" / 260. NDFA position players generally don't have much success so surprised he was an early move to LE without playing any in the ACL either this year or last. Must have shown something in ST ... was at smaller school before he transferred to Hofstra for his SR year ... hit well with some power and surprising for his size stole bases and played some CF. Low competition but some positive work.

Rough day for the affiliates. The Missions got no hit, Omar Cruz spaced out on the mound after a bases loaded walk and let a second runner score then made a throwing error to bring in a third, I think De Vries got hurt, and all 4 teams lost.

I saw somewhere that the reason DeVries left was "not" injury related but then again...they didn't know what the issue was.

Anyone know?

The daily report on the site here said that the manager said that he was healthy and that he expected him to play today. He declined to give a reason for removing him. Good news I guess.

Good news……I guess.

Disciplinary maybe?

🤷🏻‍♂️

Oufffff….hope not…

Could just have been precautionary.  Maybe the way he slid into third on his triple was concerning?

Said during Fort Wayne telecast that De Vries was going to play today but got hit in the head with a batted ball during batting practice, so not in today was precautionary.  Doubt he's a disciplinary problem - a baseball rat just like Merrill.
