Good stuff!

Was just looking at Rascon and Lugo's profiles.

We "really" need a few arms to separate themselves......looking at you Reggie Lawson!

I saw video on Lugo... OMG electric stuff and hits 98-99 and attacks batters inside... I can see CL/high leverage set up man in his not too distant future

Lugo is just 23 … I liked his potential last season when he was a starter but it appears the Padres see him in the pen. Stuff is there but command is poor (pretty high walk rate and a WHIP that is a bit high for a front line RP). Still could see him with the Padres at some point in 2023 out of the pen.

He and Cosgrove, Lawson are Rule 5 eligible … plus think Vela also is. Makes the 40 man roster construction this winter “interesting” since there are other minor leaguers also up for consideration.

If AJp gets a. A+ for his deadline deals..I am sure we will have a -3 to -5 net 40 spots after it....

Lesko #4

Snelling #7

Pads move up to #13 even with Gore and CJ graduation

Looks like two prospects are moving up the rankings with their July performance … both minor pick-ups by Preller and maybe not high ceiling but beginning to look like ML potential (bench at worst). Could “help” Preller in making deadline trades … easier to part with others maybe.

Hollis, INF in SA now has a July line of 342/461/428 … best month in a very good season. LHH.

Rosier, LHH OF in FW has a July line of 310/423/500 … really heating up after a slow start but in 2021 at low A great stats. Can play CF but in LF in deference to Hassell. Gets on base … has speed.

Maybe not in 2023 but might see them in 2024.

On the flip side Mears in his return to FW went 0 for 5 with 5 Ks. Don’t know what happened to him this season but he is totally lost at the plate.

Lawson also did not have it as his control fell apart … but some excuse as this is his biggest workload in years and could just be gassed.

Rosier someone was saying could land in our top 15 by the start of next season if not sooner

  • Knehr with a terrific start tonight at El Paso.. 4IP 3 hits..0R 0BB  5 SO... probably stretching him out a bit ..since he has been used in the BP a bit....
  • Josh Mears with a Mears game 4 AB 1 hit a HR.. 3 SOs... if indeed he is part of the Soto or any deal .. good riddance

Anyone know of any reports on how Susana looks?  Numbers are great, but curious to the reports on him(we all know the stuff that was reported when he signed)

BA recently said he is showing easy upper 90s gas and a wicked slider. I have only ever seen 1 video of him pitching but it's from May. The gas is pretty obvious, the slider looked wicked on occasion when it was down and the curveball looked terrible. Didn't see a changeup.

At the very end of the Padres' minor league chain, 3 players were named to the NL All-Star squad in the Dominican Summer League.  The three were Alain Camou, an 18-yr old 2b man in his first year in the DSL; Jose Sanabria, who plays almost every position and is repeating the DSL at 19 yrs old after a not very impressive debut last year; and Aldo Leija, an 18 yr old RHP who was lights-out to start the season and still is pitching extremely well in his professional debut.  Had he been healthy to start the season, 1b/of Oliver Carillo would surely be named an All-star.

Team is tied with the 5th best record in the 40+team DSL league and typically is carried by their offense over pitching.  Interesting group of players from a strong international class this year and some surprise performances from several players, like Sanabria, who didn't show much last year.   A very long way from the high minors but a fun team to follow with some players putting up some nice numbers to dream on.
