Quote from MrPadre19 on June 3, 2021, 7:45 pmIs anyone else intrigued by Ethan Elliott?
10th round pick has made 18 starts as a Pro....12 in 2019 and 6 so far in 2021.
In 66 innings he has a 1.76 era and only allowed 42 hits while striking out 85 and only walking 11.
I’ve not seen him on anyone’s top 30 list but if this keeps up I would suspect he would be a fast riser.
Anyone have any specifics about his “stuff”?

Quote from fenn68 on June 3, 2021, 8:09 pm90 MPH FB at best but with very good command to all quadrants and a good set of secondary pitches.
Padres like him enough to invite him to the alternate camp ahead of a number of more advanced / higher ranked prospects … so they must see more than typical older college type with good pitching instincts that dominate lower A ball types but end up getting crushed in the upper levels.
I have been intrigued by him since the unexpected invite to camp by the Padres. He might be the oddity that befuddles the current corp of hitters that are used to hard throwers spraying the pitches all over without command. A pitcher with command over multiple offerings and some knowledge how to work batters could be effective in some roll.

Been in the system since 2015 .... was a starter converted to a RP ... good stuff but never put it together. Mid-90s FB and slider type.

Joe Beimel is making a comeback. The 44-year-old lefty has signed a minor-league deal with the Padres, sources tell The Athletic. He will join Double-A San Antonio. Beimel has been clocked up to the mid-90s lately.

Quote from WindsorUK on June 13, 2021, 2:23 pmIs the Jose Azocar at San Antonio related to the ex Padre Oscar Azocar?
( I didn't realize that Oscar passed away in 2010. Died at 42 of a heart attack)
