They list him as the best FB in the Padres' system.

In many instances late last year he was above mid 90s with movement similar to Dustin May. He has far more life in his FB than Munoz, but it's hard to match 102+.  A FB that profiles with strong movement makes more sense for a SP. Avoids hitters merely syncing up timing in second and third looks.

Given his age, may even gain a tick or two more on it.

Since I go back to the LAD trading Pedro Martinez because he was "too small" to be a SP and better suited to a RP and the success of Ron Guidry as a "small" flame throwing SP .... not worried about this smaller size limiting his potential.

Would not be surprised to see Gore and Patino starting for the Padres in 2021 .. with Paddack and Lamet. POTENTIAL for a dominant Top 4 and still some really quality prospects for #5 at the same time. By the time the Padres get to 2022 ... all should be established ....

Dont forget Cantillo! As much as practicable, I would put them together to inspire competition and foster collaboration/unity between the young guns.

Who pitches in El Paso is a good q...prob Nix and Avila but who else. Bolanos is a better fit for El Paso than Lawson I think.

That's two pretty good rotations in EP and Amarillo.  What about O Hernandez?

Those 6 COULD all end up @ AA.  The most likely to bump up to AAA IMO is Bolanos.  Cantillo in Elsinore for sure.  Just don't see O. Hernandez moving up to AA opeining day either; just blocked.  Could be first guy up though.

1. expect some IL candidates out of ST (there always is) ... maybe extended ST

3. some may play themselves into RP roles

Good chance some of the "better" performing AA arms jump mid-season to the Padres allowing upward movement by the A+ guys. I see the potential for upward mobility during the season.

I could see O. Hernandez being shifted to the pen in AA .... Padres are not deep in LHRP in the upper minors.
