Guerra called up for weekend series in Mexico.  Hmmm.

To excite the Mexican fan base or audition for the Dodgers seeing as they have lost Cory Seager for the year ?

A lot of angst has been spent on the Guerra call-up for this series. But it's really not hard to understand.

The team is allowed to add an extra man for this trip from players already on the 40-man roster. They wanted an extra position player. Here's a list of active position players on the 40-man who were not on the roster as of yesterday:

Javier Guerra
Cory Spangenberg
Luis Torrens

And Spangenberg can't be recalled yet. Therefore, Javier Guerra was called up for three days. It's really not that hard.

Speaking of unnecessary online angst from the fan community, make sure you check our story on Gore on the front page...

Apparently, I should have asked for 8.

So when do we start to talk about Reyes as a prospect?

One thing I have always had issue with is  prospect “potential” versus “production”.

A guy gets labeled a non prospect and it seems no matter what he does it’s extremely hard to shake that label.

I remember this discussion involving Dean Anna......turns out his minor league production was a mirage.

Is this the case with Franmil?

He’s only 22 and he’s absolutely destroying AAA pitching after all.

The way Padre outfielders are dropping, he might get a look earlier than later.

In a lost year, why not look at him, right?

Any word on how far away Nix is from being sent out to affiliated ball?

I don't think Franmil Reyes ever got labeled a non-prospect. He was talked about more in the context of possibly not ever hitting enough to be viable. That's different in tone than a straight non-prospect which is typically reserved for old for league players that don't have any tools.
