Quote from LynchMob on August 8, 2019, 7:19 amQuote from David Nevin on August 8, 2019, 7:14 amI think Tatis's "improvement" in running is more because of his instincts and decision making.
He's fast...don't get me wrong, but he's smarter than he is fast.
Alot of fast guys aren't good baserunners and vice versa.
That rating shouldn't be "speed" ......it should be "baserunning".
Totally agree ... isn't Margot an 70 "speed" guy who's a 30 "baserunning" guy?

With 4 of our top 6 prospects.
If Trammel has found his stroke as it appears they could be unstoppable in the playoffs.
Interesting problem if SD in 2020 ... if they don’t want the top prospects in the PCL, especially if they have not played a full season in AA, and they are not ready to bump the “veterans” off the Padres SP staff. As it stands, contending for AMA next year to start the season:
Gore (20) Padres #1 / MLB #3
Patino (19) Padres #3 / MLB #33
Morejon (20) Padres #7 / MLB #87
Baez (23) Padres #10 ... if the Padres want him to go back to starting
Bolanos (22) Padres #18
Lawson (22) Padres #25
Avila (22) Padres #28
That is a young and talented group all looking good for AA and even Baez is young for the league but just seems “old” by comparison to the highly talented 19-20 year olds.
Looking at this list...along with the probability we still add a TOR starter to go along with the 6 guys in the current rotation,I think I'd prefer to keep Baez in the major league bullpen rather than putting him back to AA.
He appears to be head and shoulders more prepared for this role than Morejon...whether it's his "stuff" or his "head" or both I'm not sure.
But either way we need to win major league games next year.
Or being only 20 and not given the development time in the minors.

Well, Margot has 15 SB v. 1 CS ... so not a bad baserunner .. understanding that good base running is not all about SB.
Agree speed does not mean a good baserunner but speed is a good base to a learned skill such as base running. Same goes for defense ... speed is a good base for the learned skill of defense (especially in the OF).
All the prospects are really young and in the learning curve, so with that speed base, a lot of potential for being plus base running and plus defense.
Good base running with plus speed > good base running without speed > bad base running with speed > bad base running without speed.

Quote from MrPadre19 on August 8, 2019, 10:24 amYou wanna know why you can't consider the stats being put up in El Paso by our guys?
Did anyone else see homerun #2 by Aderlin Rodriguez last night?
Wow.

It's literally one handed AND off the end of the bat and goes over 410

Quote from MrPadre19 on August 15, 2019, 7:15 amMore craziness in the Cal League.
Lake Elsinore scores "TEN" runs in the 9th to tie the game all with 2 OUTS!
Go on to win in the 10th.
Talk about never say never....down 13-3 with 2 outs in the 9th and come back to win.
Amazing

Quote from BoosterSD on August 15, 2019, 10:21 pmI know it would be a dubious honor, however, France could be the first player since Erubial Durazo to hit .400 in the MiL since 1999.
