Having so many great pitching prospects in the organization also makes me forget about a few guys from time to time, him included, but yes he is still a Padre, rule V eligible in december, I even think he will be protected

I just assumed he was 19 or older when drafted, I stand corrected

Quote from fenn68 on August 5, 2019, 12:10 pmWith only a month left in the minor league season ... looking more as though we will not be seeing any meaningful prospect promotions ... maybe a token move at the end of August.
Not sure the reason since it seems some players were worthy of an earlier bump and a bit a break from previous seasons.

Quote from MrPadre19 on August 6, 2019, 5:44 amIt must be a Yo-Yo of emotions when a youngster is selected in the Rule V and then returned to his original Team.
It's like,"Boy,someone really sees something in me and is gonna give me a real chance".
Then it's,Well.....nevermind"
Ouch!

Padres didn't rush prospects up the chain last year either. Bolanos and Baez didn't make their AA debut until the 2nd week of August. There are definitely guys who have been deserving of promotions for a long while, but I can't fault the Padres for not bumping them to split time with another prospect.

Quote from 3fingersplit on August 6, 2019, 11:37 amHere is the latest regarding farm system rankings.....there are players used in the rankings that are playing in the majors right now
( Urias and Morejon ) - for SD and a couple from the Dodgers ( May and Smith ) but a decent read

Quote from fenn68 on August 7, 2019, 7:50 amEdwards has another big night after his bump up to LE .... Arias has another big night to keep is outstanding 2nd half performance going.
They are making the case to begin 2020 as the AA middle INF ... and nudge closer to be a factor in the 2021 roster construction. IF Urias does not take a real hold on 2B ... both plus Miller are lining up to be quality alternatives.
At some point ... given the OF future being debatable .... will one (or both) start getting reps in the OF. If they are athletic and can hit .. with no ML home for both a 2B (if either) seems like a career path.
2021 both Garcia and Kinsler will be gone ... good chance Jankowski will be gone ... and with the extra roster space for a position player ... the value of players can hit and be that super utility in both the OF and INF might make a very interesting roster usage.
Both ... plus Trammel and Olivares ... could given a lot of options for the 2021-22 OF as Jankowski, Renfroe, Naylor, Margot becomes more at risk if they don’t improve .. and worst case ... Myers last season is 2022. Oh yeh, then there is that Abrams who we think will be the CF down the road. INF to the OF could really change the dynamics of the OF future ... in a very good way.
