He went 1st 4 IP scoreless. I was surprised & encouraged they left him in so long (> 90 P) his 1st start of season, so he's fully stretched out. First actual game in almost 2 years, probably a level higher than he should be developmentally... I'm not worried about Gore.
If you want to hit the "panic button" a better name might be "Blake Snell"...
I was going to mention Snell but thought I'd leave it...... He's been no better than Joey Lucchesi, or dare I say Louis Perdomo!
Lucky to get through a lineup twice before getting racked!
Snell has too good of stuff. For some reason, he wastes A LOT of pitches!
As for Gore, 55% strike rate? I can't say without looking up the info but I'd guess that's an incredibly low number count?

Also ... from today's DFR ...
MacKenzie Gore made his debut in front of the home crowd in El Paso, and ended up with a good line in the box score after some ups and downs. After a quick first inning, Gore got knocked around a bit in the second and third, allowing three runs on six hits, including three doubles. The star lefty then pulled it together, dispatching seven straight Isotopes to end his evening. He wrapped up his outing by striking out the side before sharing in the emotions of the crowd after his last out. Gore threw 53 of his 89 pitches for strikes.

While Wil Myers was hitting a pair of homers in San Diego, Sugar Land outfielder Jake Meyers tagged MacKenzie Gore for a pair of homers in El Paso. Meyers’ second shot put the exclamation point on arguably Gore’s worst professional outing. The top prospect surrendered three homers and allowed six runs although only two were earned, thanks to some shoddy defense behind him, and he left after recording just one out in the second inning. The homers Gore allowed were the first three he has allowed all year. Through 20 innings in El Paso, Gore has 24 hits and walked 12 while striking 18. Gore continues to have spotty command of his fastball which doesn’t allow the off-speed stuff to play. Gore’s performance is definitely concerning but he is still just 22 and has thrown 41.2 innings above the High-A level.

Quote from Randy Manese on August 10, 2021, 2:56 pmHas not pitched since June and last rumor I heard was that he was still having mechanical issues. I watched his starts on MiLB and he seemed okay from the wind-up but having great difficulty when having to pitch with runners on which, unfortunately, will happen more often than not. Not officially on the injured or inactive list so Padres have him stashed somewhere hoping he looks like the pitcher he was in 2019 and before. Since he doesn't have a blazing fastball, it's all about control, location and ability with his very good to excellent secondary pitches, however, got to get that fastball in the right spots to make other parts of his game work.

Have to admit surprised he has not surfaced anywhere pitching even while working on his mechanics for this long. Blister healing is more a weeks issue not two months.
Wonder if they are doing a major adjustment to his delivery … as I recall he had the high leg kick that could have been an issue and modifying that could take time. Just speculation.

Quote from Randy Manese on August 10, 2021, 4:34 pmJust saw Tirso Ornelas launch a 410 foot bomb at 106 mph velocity off former Padre Anderson Espinoza. Even though Ornelas' BA is south of 250, has gotten a lot better this year since his last stint in Lake Elsinore in 2019 which saw him go down and flounder in the Arizona Rookie League. Just baby steps, but maybe getting his confidence back to become a legitimate prospect again.

Quote from LynchMob on August 19, 2021, 4:34 pmJust saw this note at OnRoto.com ...
08.19: Padres LHP prospect MacKenzie Gore has been added to the Arizona Complex League roster.(The southpaw will begin pitching games in the ACL at some point soon. Once considered the best pitching prospect in baseball -- and by a considerable margin -- Gore has seen his stock slide considerably this year, and it seems extremely unlikely he makes his debut in 2021. Keep in mind he's still just 22 until next February, however, and Gore still has a chance to be an excellent fantasy option at some point. There's just more risk here than previously assumed. )
