Spoiler
Hypothetical....let's say this bunch somehow bonds over this event and wins the series.

Obviously there are players in the clubhouse who've had enough of his act( Clevinger can't be the only one!). Let's say they decide, as a group, to not let him participate in any and all series win events( parades, gatherings, etc. ) as he's done nothing to contribute to the title.

Does this teach him a lesson, where he shows contrition and vows to be a better( read: mature) teammate? Or does this ostracise him, making him a pariah in the clubhouse and persona non grata in San Diego?

There's so much fall out left from this that we'll have to wait and see how it all plays out.

I so desperately want to him to be successful here, but if our veterans don't think he's man enough to help on the field, maybe doing the unthinkable becomes a reality( like Henry suggests?).

Note that Tatis has a full no trade clause and has a contract that most (if not all) teams would balk at taking given the circumstances.

My guess is that the Padres let this all go to the back burner for the rest of the season (keep Tatis out of the limelight with the team / teammates / fans but have a heart to heart behind closed door with him) and six months from now deal with the re-intergration of Tatis during ST.

Let the frustration fade (hopefully under the specter of a major playoff run) and then play the redemption card as he is re-integrated. Of course, Tatis has to make the effort. Avoid the knee jerk reaction and let time work in their favor. Fans, players, teams forgave the likes of Cruz and Petite ... and at least tolerated Alex Rodriguez ... so nothing to address now until ST 2023.

Simply Tatis is a major asset that the Padres have to do the most to maximize his value. How they deal with him?

Don't forget we love and forgave Camminnitti

They accepted Robinson Cano.

They will accept Tatis back with open arms next season.

Let’s face it, we have a superstar that makes really bad decisions.  We can hope he will mature through this but we are stuck with him even if he doesn’t

Tatis needs a talking-to and Manny is the only star player we have had other than Tatis. I doubt Tatis is smart enough to listen to someone like Crone or Kim, who have managed to succeed with far less talent. We all saw Tatis and Machado get in a shouting match last year on the bench. It looks like Tatis did not take Machado's advice to heart. Now we have Soto and Bell in addition to Manny. The 3 of them need to sit Tatis down and smack the sh*t out of him.

The Padres management should Tatis where it hurts... attention. The Padres should focus all of their advertising efforts on Machado and Soto. No ads or commercials for Tatis anymore. Move his parking space to the farthest in the lot as well. You don't play and produce, you don't get perks and attention.

The guys who run Roster Resources said that the Tatis adjustment broke something in the formula and they're working on fixing it now. It shouldn't have made that much of a difference. The actual number should be around 236m.

I’m thinking if missing 110 games because of his dumb decision in the offseason didn’t humble him this 80 games and national ridicule and tarnished image will.

I mean…..it has too right?

Tatis is still an immature kid who hasn't learned anything. You can tell by the statements made by Melvin and Preller. "Broken trust" and "I have spoken to him and I will not discuss it" are not words of support. It seems Padres management is unhappy with Tatis and whatever excuses he has offered them.

So,when was this test Tatis failed?

I keep reading that he failed a test in March?

If this is the case why wait until now to drop the appeal?

Take the suspension and he would be playing right now...and in the Playoffs and next season.

So something seems off.

I have been trying to figure this out as well...you are on the 60 day IL...take the 80 game suspension it isn't like you are going to be able to do anything anyways...unless it wasnt in March. But this whole thing is mind boggling if it was failed in March. If you are worried about your image...just accept the 80 game suspension and come out and say you disagree with it but are going to accept punishment since you are going to miss the time anyways...so never affects you...in the grand scheme of things other than people question you. You can then spin it as a way to speed up healing and help limit any question of your body healing.
