Prospect Watch: El Paso struggled Friday, issuing 13 walks and losing at home to Round Rock. … Dustin Harris continued his torrid stretch with three more hits, including a double. He also drove in a pair of runs. The former White Sox outfielder has gone 7-for-12 in three games this series, and he’s hitting .377/.441/.656 in August. … Ethan Salas had a pair of hits, including a 106 mph single to right field. The top prospect is hitting .340/.383/.566 this month and has struck out just once in his last 32 trips to the plate. His 8% whiff rate since arriving in the PCL is the best in Triple-A baseball, He was lifted after three plate appearances due to the lopsided score. … Blake Hunt has been relegated to third-string duty since Salas’ promotion, but he took over for Salas and had two hits of his own, including his 10th homer of the year. Hunt has only seen action in seven games this month, but he’s mashed the baseball when given the opportunity. He’s hit three homers in just 20 August plate appearances. Hunt made his big league debut earlier this season and still occupies a spot on the 40-man roster. Including the two homers he hit during a rehab assignment at the complex, Hunt has tied his professional high with 12 this season. … Evan Fitterer was activated from the IL and made the start. He tossed two innings, allowing a pair of earned runs on three hits. He walked one and struck out two. Fitterer went on the injured list at the end of July after walking off the mound with an injury. The 26-year-old has a 4.33 ERA in 23 games (17 starts) for El Paso.

Prospect Watch: The Missions’ offense struggled, tallying just five hits in a loss to the Naturals. … Alex McCoy hit safely in his tenth straight game with a single in four plate appearances. The 24-year-old has four multi-hit games in seven starts since joining the San Antonio roster. He’s off to a .394/.412/.636 start. … Jack Costello had a pair of singles and drove in a run. The former USD star has hit safely in four straight games and seven of nine overall since his promotion to Double-A. Costello is hitting .270/.270/.378 since joining the Missions. … Victor Lizarraga made his return to the Missions rotation and struggled once again. The right-hander tossed 3.1 innings, allowing five runs on five hits. He walked one and struck out two. Lizarraga has had a brutal season, with walks being the main culprit. Including Friday’s start, the 22-year-old has walked 50 batters in 71.1 innings, which has contributed to a 6.69 ERA. On a positive note, Lizarraga only walked one Friday. A few years ago, Lizarraga was one of the top prospects in the system The 22-year-old will be a minor league free agent this winter. … Francis Peña tossed a pair of scoreless innings, allowing one hit. He did not notch a strikeout, but he did generate four groundouts. The 25-year-old struggled in El Paso last year after a breakout 2024 campaign. He moved back a level this season and has pitched to a solid 3.24 ERA in 36 games.

Prospect Watch: The TinCaps lost a wild one Friday night. They took a 7-6 lead to the ninth, but a two-out throwing error by Bradley Frye allowed two runs to score. The TinCaps came back to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, but the Loons scored five times in the tenth to earn the win. … Rosman Verdugo had a pair of hits, including his 14th homer of the year, setting a new career-high. The infielder has played mostly second base this season but slid over to short on Friday. Verdugo is 6-for-13 in his last three games. Overall, Verdugo has a .735 OPS – the highest he’s posted since his pro debut at the complex back in 2022. … While Frye made the costly error in the ninth, he did have a nice day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with his second homer since joining Fort Wayne. Frye spent most of the season with the Storm, posting a .739 OPS in 84 games. Since arriving in the Summit City, he’s posted an excellent .856 OPS with a pair of homers. The 24-year-old signed with the Padres last season after playing collegiately at Mercer. … Robbie Lavey reached base three times with two walks and a game-tying double in the bottom of the ninth. The 2026 fourth-rounder out of George Washington also added the first stolen base of his professional career. The 20-year-old is slashing .217/.333/.522 to start his professional career. … Matthew Watson returned to the Summit City after making five starts with the Missions. He tossed 3.2 innings, allowing five runs on four hits, walking four while striking out four. The 24-year-old has a 5.69 ERA in 15 games (11 starts) with the TinCaps.
