Key Statistics: CF Dustin Harris 2-for-3, 2 R, 2B, HR (7), 2 RBI, SB (10); 3B Marcos Castañon 2-for-4, 2B, RBI; DH Rodolfo Durán 1-for-3; LHP Jagger Haynes (L, 0-3) 5 IP. 7 H, 5 R (4 ER), 2 BB, 2 K; RHP Alek Jacob 1.1 IP, H, K

Prospect Watch: The Express scored three in the second inning and held off the Chihuahuas in the opening game of the six-game series. … Dustin Harris had a nice game at the plate with two hits, including his seventh homer as a Chihuahua. He also added his tenth stolen base of the season. The veteran has been red-hot at the plate in August. Including Tuesday’s effort, he is slashing .346/.424/.596 in 57 plate appearances. He’s struck out just four times all month. … Samad Taylor made his first rehab appearance and went 0-for-3 with a walk in four plate appearances. Taylor has been on the injured list since July 7 with an oblique strain. … Lefty Jagger Haynes lost his third decision since joining the El Paso roster but did toss five innings for the second consecutive outing. He allowed five runs (four earned), walking two and striking out a pair. He leaned heavily on his four-seam fastball, which sat 92-94 on the night. He drew only four whiffs while allowing eight hard-hit balls. The 23-year-old has struggled out of the gate in his first trek through the PCL. His start on Tuesday lowered his ERA to 8.53. While opposing hitters are batting .291 off the lefty, he’s walked 13 and hit a pair of batters in 19 innings.
Roster Moves: It was another busy transaction Tuesday in the Padres system. Catcher Victor Duarte was sent from Triple-A back to the complex league. Outfielder Kai Murphy was sent from San Antonio to El Paso and was promptly placed on the Development List. Right-handed reliever José Leclerc was promoted to El Paso, and hard-throwing righty Johan Moreno was sent back to the Texas League. Finally, Ty Adcock was placed on the seven-day injured list.
Missions 6, Northwest Arkansas Naturals 5
Key Statistics: RF Alex McCoy 2-for-5, 2 R, 2 RBI; LF Tirso Ornelas 3-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI; DH Romeo Sanabria 2-for-5, RBI; 1B Albert Fabian, 4-for-4, R, 2 2B, RBI; LHP Fernando Sanchez, 5 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K; RHP Garrett Hawkins IP, H, 2 K; RHP Johan Moreno 1.1 IP, BB, 3 K; RHP Francis Peña, 0.2 IP, BB

Prospect Watch: The Missions scored four times in the bottom of the ninth to earn the comeback victory. Romeo Sanabria had the walk-off single to send Missions fans home happy. …It took first baseman Albert Fabian 415 games to notch his first four-hit game as a professional. It only took five more to record his second. The 24-year-old had a pair of doubles, two singles, and an RBI. Thanks in part to a pair of four-hit games this month, Fabian is hitting .360/.393/.500 with a homer and four doubles in August. … Alex McCoy had a two-run single in the ninth inning as part of a multi-hit game. McCoy has hit safely in all four games he’s played at the Double-A level, including three multi-hit games in the small sample. The 24-year-old is off to a .474/.474/.895 start. The former undrafted free agent is three homers away from a 20-20 season. … Tirso Ornelas doubled, singled twice, and drove in a pair of runs in the victory. The 26-year-old has struggled in August and has had a disappointing year overall. Ornelas’ .748 OPS this year is the lowest mark he’s produced in a season since 2021, when he was with Fort Wayne. The Tijuana native has seen action in Triple-A in each of the last four seasons but has played exclusively for the Missions in 2026, where he’s posted roughly league-average offense. … Fernando Sanchez made his third start since coming off the injured list, tossing five innings. Sanchez allowed four runs on six hits, walking two and striking out five. The 25-year-old has bounced back and forth between the rotation and bullpen throughout his career, usually seen as more of an organizational arm than a legitimate prospect. He has a 5.40 ERA in 11 games (six starts) for the Missions in 2026.
Roster Moves: After one start last week with the Storm, RHP Victor Lizarraga was sent up to the Missions, where he will look to finish the season strong. Swiss Army knife Justin DeCriscio earned his second promotion of the season, moving up to the Texas League to backfill for Carson Tucker, who went on the IL over the weekend. Lefty Luis Gutiérrez was activated from the 60-day injured list, and RHP Bernard Jose was sent to the Missions from Fort Wayne. Finally, Catcher Oswaldo Linares was placed on the Development List.
TinCaps 6, Great Lakes Loons 5 (completion of August 2 7-inning game)
Key Statistics: 2B Rosman Verdugo, 2-for-4, R; DH Jack Costello, 1-for-1, R, 2B, 2 RBI; RHP Miguel Mendez, IP, 3 H, ER, K; RHP Carlos Medina (W, 1-0) 2 IP, BB, K; RHP Will Varmette (S, 4) 0.1 IP, H

Prospect Watch: The TinCaps won a pair of games Tuesday, as they played the final three innings of a game begun on August 2. That contest was started by Miguel Mendez, who was traded by the Padres at the deadline. … Rosman Verdugo had a pair of hits in each game, including a double in the nightcap. The TinCaps second baseman has 13 homers and a .718 OPS for Fort Wayne this season. … Kasen Wells led off in the second game and delivered with two singles and three runs scored, while notching his 23rd stolen base of the season. He also had a key defensive play, cutting down a runner at home on a double. The speedy Wells has had a brutal month. Despite the multi-hit effort, Wells is hitting just .167 in August, including a stretch of four straight two-strikeout games earlier this month. The fleet-footed outfielder can be a weapon offensively, but he needs to put the ball in play in order to let his speed play. Despite the recent slump, he has a .360 on-base percentage this year. … Bradley Frye had a nice evening, with a double and two singles as part of a three-hit night. The former Mercer infielder has swung the bat well since being promoted to Fort Wayne. Frye is hitting .286/.375/.464 in 10 games since his promotion to High-A. … Kannon Kemp pitched well, tossing four strong innings before departing. He allowed one run while scattering six hits. He struck out six without walking a batter. The hard-throwing Texan has put together two consecutive encouraging starts after getting battered on August 4. In a small, nine-inning sample, Kemp has a 3.00 ERA in his last two starts.
Roster Moves: With DeCriscio in San Antonio, infielder Yimy Tovar was promoted to Fort Wayne to take his place on the roster. Righty Maikel Miralles was sent back to the complex with RHP Matthew Watson moving down from San Antonio to take his spot on the active roster.
San Jose Giants 9, Storm 2

Elliot Lascelles was quick to get underway after the Padres drafted him. (Photo: Jerry Espinoza)
Key Statistics: CF Dawson Willis 2-for-4, R, 3B, SB (19); DH Chris McHugh 2-for-4; SS Elliot Lascelles 3-for-4, R, 3B, SB (1); RHP Jesus Castro (L, 2-4) 4 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 K; LHP Andrew Wright, IP, 2 K
Prospect Watch: The Storm returned home and were promptly blown out by the Giants at The Diamond. … This year’s second-round pick, Elliot Lascelles, had a debut to remember after joining the Storm to start the week. The Canadian-born shortstop lined an opposite-field triple to left and singled two times as part of a three-hit night in his first professional game. The 18-year-old signed for $2.8 million – the largest bonus a Canadian high school position player has ever gotten in the draft. The left-handed hitting shortstop bypassed a commitment to Yale to sign with the organization. … Dawson Willis had a single and a triple as part of a multi-hit game. He also added his 19th stolen base of the season. Willis added the outfield to his bag of tricks recently after seeing time at first and third for most of the season. Willis’ power and athleticism make him an interesting player already, and if he can handle center, his power potential is tantalizing, despite a K-rate hovering near 40%. … After pitching well all season, 19-year-old Jesus Castro has seemingly hit a wall down the stretch. The young righty allowed five runs in four innings Tuesday, walking three and striking out two. Castro came into August sporting a solid 3.31 ERA. However, he has posted a 10.97 ERA in three appearances this month, resulting in a full-run increase to his ERA. Despite the rough times recently, it’s easy to consider Castro’s season a resounding success for an organization that lacks quality pitching depth. … Undrafted free agent Andrew Wright made his professional debut in the ninth inning, pitching a scoreless inning with a pair of strikeouts. Wright played high school baseball in Lodi, California, and attended Cal State Fullerton. Wright was exclusively a reliever in college. In his final season for the Titans, he had a 3.82 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 35.1 innings.
Roster Moves: As noted, Lascelles and Wright were promoted from the complex to Lake Elsinore for the stretch run. Lefty Joseph Herrera was sent back to the complex in a corresponding move.
