Around the League...non Padres

So basically Gerritt Cole is going to make $1,000,000 every time he walks onto the mound for Nine years!

Whether he goes 2 innings or nine.

Still have to wonder what they're gonna be getting out of Strasburg in 2025-2026  for $35 mil

If say Paddack went 5-0 1.55 in postseason and we won the WS and AJP extended him to 10-350 and he didn't pitch again.. Id be ok with it..just saying!

Even if he did it for a different team?

Cole hasn't done anything for the Yankees....different situation.

Plus the Padres winning a WS of course has never happened....worth whatever it costs.

I just think 9/324 is just ludicrous for a pitcher...ANY pitcher.

$1 mil a start compared to say....another top starter making nowhere near that money?

They appear to be trying to make up for the horrible Stanton deal by making another.

Sure, maybe it will work out for them and they will win 2 WS with Cole.

Then again...maybe not and 5 years from now they will still be paying him for mediocrity or to not even be pitching.

As per my quoted quote, I was referring to Strasburg

Oops....sorry

Had Cole on the brain

On the bright side Cole and Rendon are in the A.L.

And not on the Dudgers most importantly!!

Makes you wonder what the Dodgers are doing?

Pretty sure their biggest weakness last season was their bullpen and still is.

So they sign Treinen for too much and go after more Mega deal players.

Now that they've missed out on the big 3....I assume they will keep trying for the splash signing/trade (Donaldson,Bryant,etc.).

Meanwhile no Pomeranz....no Will Smith....Yanks in on Hader.....?

Are they really gonna go into 2020 with Treinen as their only add to their biggest weakness?

I guess they could always sign Craig Stammen?

The D-backs have landed themselves an ace.

The team has reached agreement with free agent left-hander Madison Bumgarner on a five-year contract, a baseball source confirmed, and the deal is worth $85 million, with $15 million deferred, according to another source.

MadBum is no longer an ace. I find it funny that the media is still playing him up as if he is an ace. Last season he finished the year with 3.90 ERA and a WHIP of 1.127, in probably the most pitcher friendly park in MLB. He would not even be our #2 this season, and in less than a year would be our #5 SP making $17M a year.

BTW, pitching in AZ, he will have an ERA closer to 5 than 4 this year.
