Around the League...non Padres

I absolutely agree Commie! I was absolutely incensed when I watched Tyler Glasnow start against Houston in the playoffs. I mean, just the way they blatantly signaled what pitches were coming and then straight up lied about it as if lying is nothing. Now it seems that cheating is nothing. It makes me wonder why they even bothered to crack down on steroids. Yes, mlb will talk tough about it but there will be no serious consequences. Nothing that will in any way deter them from doing it again. I guess our society really is going downhill.

Isn’t this the front office that was found guilty for stealing data from STL when some front office guys moved to HOU? Of course the guy that got fired for his playoff comments re: Ozuna. Now this.

Seems as though a systemic culture problem in the front office likely supported by the GM. Multiple transgressions SHOULD lead to a strong MLB response .... just they never do.

Well, based on our offense this past season we can be sure we weren't stealing signs.

Either that or we are even worse than we thought.

Literally LOL!

Sad loss for the Minnesota Twins over the weekend as one of their prospects playing in the Australian league passed away this weekend at the too early age of 23. Prayers and thoughts to the family of Ryan Costello.

I know the cause is "natural causes," I hope it was some undiagnosed heart defect or something. The Skaggs thing is stuck in my mind.

Reds claimed OF Nick Martini off waivers from the Padres.

For the record I don’t have much belief in the defensive metrics.

Apparently now some of the analytics folks think the same way ... at least on DRS. Reports are that the formula for calculating DRS is being modified.

No idea how that may change the number, how it is balanced with the offensive stats, and how that may alter the comparative results among the players.

Good to see that all the advanced stats based on formulas with imbedded assumptions created by someone in a back room are getting some critical evaluation ... hopefully to better align them with what is actually happening on field / in the game.  Not only better for the fans view of players but since agents are using this data to get contracts up ... they have a a greater need for relevance to actual value.

According to Thomas Harding of MLB.com, the Rockies have no intention of trading away right-hander Jon Gray.

Good. I don't like him that much and him being off the market may keep us from doing something stupid. Of course, that could just be something the Rockies say to let you know that the price will be very high. Please just walk away from this one AJ.
