It's tough reading this a few days after the deadline.

If we were looking to move De Vries anyway, why not offer him to Boston? Or did we?

Even if Preller did offer DeVries ... doubt Boston would have made the deal at this point in the midst of their own playoff run and the fact Duran is their starting CF.

However, agree with the speculation that Boston will entertain the trade route for Duran over the winter. His salary should be going up substantially and they may want to deploy that money on pitching (or get ML quality pitching in return). He will not be had for a low quality return (they still have use for his bat even in a rotating DH role with the other OF.

Bobby "Barrels" Hassell is playing CF with the Nats and made a nice catch robbing a HR.  I still don't like the trade for Soto, even though I get they wanted to win a WS before PS passed.

In addition, Bogey is finally starting to play like he was supposed to when he was signed as a free agent from the Red Sox.  Again, not a move I really liked, but they wanted to win the WS before PS passed.  However, the Pads are 29-18 since Bogey got hot in mid-June, since June 19 Bogey is hitting .328, which ranks 5th in MLB, 17th in OPS at .908.

Go X & the Pads!

Yeah, I think you’re right about AJ’s haste in trying to win it all by making big moves.  For instance, I think Bogaerts was somewhat of a desperation signing and not necessarily AJ’s move, just like his offer to Machado at the start of ´23 was way below what Seidler ended up giving him when he took over the negotiations with Manny’s agent.

Pretty crazy game for former Padres prospects between the Marlins and Guardians. Marsee went 4-5 with 2 HRs and 7 RBI, Pauley went 4-4 with a HR, Edwards went 2-5 with a HR and Arias went 1-3 with a HR.

Amazing game for ex-Padre draft picks and players traded away by AJP.  So far, the trades involving these players have been heavily favored towards the Pads side.  Go Pads!

Can look at this as a major success by Preller in executing his drafts / international signings generating quality trade chips. Plus bodes well for the future with the skills to rebuild a system with ML quality prospects.

Phillies recieve a big blow to their SP rotation. Ace Zack Wheeler was placed on the 15-day IL with a blood clot near his right shoulder.

Wheeler is out for the season with Thoracic surgery and Montas is out for the balance of the season for the Mets.

Big losses for two teams in the playoff race.

Our Ol’ friend Luis Urias was just DFA’d.

He,and Luis Patiño are good examples of why trading prospects while their value is high is most of the time the best way to use them.

Most of us thought both would be above average major leaguers of not more.

90% don’t live up to what we think they will be…losing that 10% sucks sometimes but getting major league players that improve your team is the way to go.

Then build it back….which IMO AJ Preller does better than most
