Around the League...non Padres

PreviousPage 124 of 224Next

Seattle has one of the best GM's in the business and he really took advantage of Preller when he desperately sought a decent catcher to replace the ineffective trio of Hedges, Mejia and Torrens in the pandemic season.  Also, Preller was trying to shore up a bullpen by rolling the dice on some players who had flashed skills in previous years but were still unproven.  Despite getting a good catcher when healthy, Seattle made out very very well on these two trades, which really was supposed to be just one gigantic trade but was extended into two and that's where the Mariners got Brash.  Brash was a 4th round pick but is undersized at 6:01 and 175 lbs.  He has come much faster than anyone may have imagined, but that's what young pitchers do sometimes - exceed expectations or fail expectations - it's not always linear growth.  Give Padres credit for identifying Brash in the draft and Seattle credit for getting him in a trade and developing him.

Owen Miller on FIRE for Guardians ... https://www.mlb.com/video/owen-miller-s-two-homer-game

Woulda/Coulda/Shoulda 🙁

Not getting Suzuki hurts.

Could literally be the difference in the offense that we needed.

Eight game hit streak to start his career and has 4 home runs already.

While Profar has been good we know he isn’t going to keep up this pace……but it may be who Suzuki actually is.

Its 10 games into the season, no one really is who they are for the season. Good or bad

Just saw this. What are we, little leaguers?

These are multi millionaires whining about getting their a**es handed to them? Yea, it really stinks that the Pads won't get a chance for payback anytime soon...(tongue in cheek...)

We're hittin' GS up by 7, on 3-0 counts. This is MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL, an adult league. It's okay to score runs, however or whenever( goodness knows the game needs it, as boring as it has become)

The game will be SO much better when all these unwritten rules become a thing of the past. If these guys want to be macho, go perform in the octagon! This is a kids game- enjoy it as such.

It was France, Trammel, Torrens we sent to Seattle, right? Anyone else? I see France has turned into decent player- any of the other guys?

We so desperately need Nola to get a full season in. Otherwise this is a stinker.

We made more than 1 trade with Seattle ... they also have Andres Munoz ... who is about to become a productive part of their bullpen ...

Check out Peavy actually pitching with his gold glove......

Just saw this note ...

Gabriel Arias Cleveland Guardians

Making his debut and batting seventh in the first game of todays double-header.

Edit: Background from mlbtraderumors.com ...

The Guardians announced a series of transactions prior to today’s doubleheader against the White Sox, placing right-hander Cal Quantrill, infielder Owen Miller and righty Anthony Castro on the injured list. No designation was provided, likely indicating that all three are being placed on the Covid-related IL.
