Good to see Manny Machado get some down ballot votes ... I'm not a fan of Manny ... but his defense was eye-popping this year and the rest of his game good enough to earn the down ballot votes ...
The top 3 on my ballot would have been: Harper, Soto, Crawford ...

I am glad Crawford got some recognitions … deserved more in my mind if you go beyond stats and include a factor to team winning.
SF was expected to be a very poor team in 2021 and ended up with the most wins in team history. Crawford hit (139 wRC+) and a +8.9 dWAR at the SS position and was the cornerstone player for SF.
Harper / Soto / Tatis may have had better offensive stats (but not overwhelming better) and all were worse defensive options with only Tatis being in the critical SS position. All three were on teams that did not make the playoffs … so always a debate surround how they were pitched to … e.g. Soto’s OBP a product of hm being the only bat in the WASH line up and just got walked over and over?
I would have gone Crawford - Harper (best offense - strong finish while Phil was still in the hunt) - Tatis (excellent offense and a presence that was critical to the Padres and MLB getting to the next level with fans).

I agree, Crawford was essential to vastly overperforming Giants team this season, should have been the MVP.

Agree again.
Crawford was the most valuable player in the NL this year. Not the best statistically, but most valuable to his team- the one that had the majors best record.

Apparently the Tigers will non tender Matthew Boyd on the coming days.
Might be worth a shot…..esp. if we spend on a bat.

Was thinking the same, although has had some injury issues recently. So..........probably depends on the money he wants.
