Yep..…suddenly he will have 30 teams interested.

Yes, 25 HRs however not a great BA at .253 nor a great OBP at .336. Although as mainly a DH would offer some defensive protection in the fact that he could play OF and Catch if needed as well.

Based on 2021's stats, Schwarber's 253/336/570 is ABOVE the ML averages for LF at 240/320/403 ... we need to start lowering our standards for performance just as the players have.

Note:

WAR: Schwarber 2.2 (3rd in MLB) just behind Winker (2.8) and Canha (2.4)

but if you focus on only hitting ...

wRC+: Schwarber 143 (3rd) just behind Winker (169) and Brantley (147)

but concerned about defense ...

dWAR: Schwarber -2.9 (8th) out of the 19 "qualified" LF candidates.

Bottom line his bat will sell and his defense will not be a major impediment (especially with the DH).

No, I really dont. And its a shame that everyone else is willing to except mediocrity as excellence.

25 HR's and its still June.

I'm not a fan of "his type" of player either.

But if he hits 45+ homeruns he's gonna get paid and his market went from AL only to most of both leagues.

40+ homeruns is wanted by every team at some level....that's all I was saying

I guess if I am a GM and my mission is to build a winner ... need to get the "best player available" and in 2021 that appears to include Schwarber. May long for the better options (or a standard from the imagined past) ... but if they don't exist or are not available, I would not doing my job (and would get fired) if I ignored him and went with a platoon of Profar and Mateo.

Personally not a Schwarber type guy ... but alternatives to add a 900+ OPS as the DH? (note: expect a big contract resigning with WASH).

Not probably a Padres issue after they give Pham his 3 year extension and fund the arbitration (or extension) for Musgrove plus the escalation for Clevinger.

Most players after the 3rd and 4th rounds are all a crapshoot anyway.

The difference in “best player available” between the 101st player and the 120th player is pretty subjective I think.

I have to believe position need factors in at some point in the later rounds.

I even think at the bottom of the first round if you have a College pitcher and a High School outfielder as the next two on your board with the high schooler just ahead AJ could take the College arm if he believes we need arms sooner rather than outfielders later.

Just looking at the system what does our rotation look like in 2023-24 without trades?

I sure miss Cole Wilcox and Omar Cruz……😉

Wilcox AND Patino!

Snell is going to have to be A HELL of better to pay for those 2.

What Ohtani is doing is simply amazing!

Could you imagine if he and Mike Trout were on the same team?

How good they would be?

Oh wait…..

Will be a shame when they miss the Playoffs once again because their GM doesn’t value pitching.

The White Sox granted Adam Eaton his unconditional release Monday.
ANALYSIS
Eaton will hit the open market after no organization was willing to put a waiver claim in for the veteran outfielder and the money remaining on his one-year, $7 million deal when Chicago designated him for assignment last week.
