$20M per year, for 2 years for Jose Abreu

#30 - Jose Quintana, one of my preferences. Two years, $24MM. However, none of them have SD as a landing spot.

33. Jurickson Profar. Two years, $20MM. Two have SD resigning him.

IMO, not worth $10M per season.

37. Brandon Drury. Two years, $18MM. Landing spots, Angels, CHWS, MIA, MIL.

Abreu would have to take less to come to San Diego; possibly 12M per year but that may not be in the budget.  Seems the interest in Senga will drive his price up, closer to 17-18M per year.  May be at the top of our range.

41. Michael Wacha. Two years, $16MM. One person suggesting SD. At $8M AAV, could be an interesting signing. Had a 3.32 ERA and pitched 127, with a 1.115 WHIP.

44. Michael Conforto. One year, $15MM. 2 votes for BOS, too big of a risk for SD IMO.

With Avila on 40 man roster ..currently at 33/40.. updated Before Martinez opt out and before Suarez signing so still 33/40 BUT replace Martinez with Suarez.. 20 Pitchers 13 position players..4 Catchers... so expect some more subtracting and some additions with 40 man and rule V decisions needing to he set by 11/15..(Tuesday)..

Since this seems to be the place for crazy player ideas, I've got one.....what if the Duds do not tender Cody Bellinger, and he becomes an FA?

I know, he's been absolutely atrocious at the dish the past few years but he did hit 19 HR's and play GG level defense. He's only 27 and he is left handed.

I don't know what his arb numbers would be but the Duds certainly have to move on from him, right?

Could he be the good defender, LH hitting power threat to man RF, whilst moving Soto back to LF?

He's going to have to sign somewhere cheap, on a make good deal, to re-establish his value( if he actually does have any left!)

Plus, how great would it be if helped us unseat the Duds as NL west champs????

I'm sure there are probably better options for our missing outfield spot but if he is cut free, surely he has to be in the conversation? Players with gold gloves and 20+ HR power don't grow on trees.

Big $$ thinking 5/55 ?

Wonder if AJP moves Hader now?.. if he can get one of the SP from Marlins straight up for Hader .. why not?

Keep telling you guys there is no way AJ is paying $14 million for a closer( absolutely shocked he's paying $9 million for Suarez!) so this really comes as no surprise.

I'm sure someone will give us something in return for Hader. Gotta start rebuilding our farm.

5 years AND a player opt out?

Dude was lights out but has ONE year in the league and is about to be 32.

I will be shocked if he’s pitching at a high level at 37 so this is the ideal case of hoping he pitches so well he opts out at ……..35

🙄

This is part of the price of trying to win NOW … the extra (maybe non-productive) years is what it takes to get him signed. If the Padres fall out of contention mid-contract … he becomes a trade candidate.
