2023 offseason

If they can nail down Martinez and Senga (or similar) quickly ... might just sit on that pitching staff until ST since the RP should be able to work without adds.

With Soto full season and Tatis full season that added offense may be enough to not push for the 9th regular hitter to be all the impressive (so lower cost 1 year deal type). The other eight would be all returning in 2024, and more money on the table post Hader - Pomeranz - Snell - Darvish (if not extended). So maybe at that point target a better option - longer term.

That could leave some money on the table for a late ST add (Preller known to do that) and money for a trade deadline add.

This is something I think most of us have overlooked.

We consider adding Tatis 3 weeks in to last years lineup but I know I at least wasn't even considering the difference in having Soto those first 3-4 months we "didn't" have him for last year.

So it's really like adding BOTH Tatis and Soto!

The other thing to consider is the two starters we have to replace were by far our least productive ones.

At least we aren't having to replace Darvish's production or Joes.

So we should have no issue being better there as well.

Add two Starters better than Clev/Martinez and Manaea....add 1 starting bat and a good bench/DH bat, along with the "additions" of Tatis and Soto and we should be much better than last year.

Oh by far, with a full season of Soto, our OF starts off much better than it did last season. Then on April 20th, we should be able to add in Tatis, Mr P., you are right, we are already WAY ahead of where we were to start the season than 2022. And we started pretty strong last season, so we should probably be a little more cheery than we have been showing.

Yes, SP is going to be an important add this offseason, since we saw the difference having depth in 2022, versus 2021.

It all hinges on how much cash Preller gets to take to the candy store this offseason. We are close, keep signing those checks Petey!

Lets be the last team to win a game in 2023!!

Also we didn't have Snell for like the 1st 2 months and Clev missed a bunch of starts to begin 2022 as well... We should have Snell from day 1.. which will also help..

I'll believe that when I see it.

Hopefully he trains a little this offseason, instead of being Gamer Snellzilla!

Im not a fan of the idea of Tatis at 2B, and I dont know if we have the money for both Bell and Pederson.

If you were to trade Crone, I would look for a serviceable vet for 2B, along the lines of Odor or Hernandez. And Tatis in LF. Then maybe Bell fits in our budget.

Remember in my proposal we would clear Snell 16mil (10 towards CBT)+ Crone 4.2 proj ..which would give us the extra money (having spent only on Senga and taking on Lopez $$) so the money roughly $25 left (assuming $30 available to start) after unloading Snell and Crone on Jays should be more than plenty to add both

With needs at SP/OF/1B/DH I just don't see us adding an infielder.

I think if the idea is to put Tatis in the OF we just add a 1b/DH (or 2) and roll with Manny/Kim/Crone/Addition.

If the idea is Tatis in the infield it will be Manny/Tatis/Kim/Cronenworth...."maybe" you switch Kim/Tatis but IMO You then have Tatis and Crone miscast.

Nando's arm is wasted at 2b and Crones range is wasted and his bat is below average for the position.

Less is more...or using the KISS(keep it simple stupid) analogy.

Over thinking etc....

Add 2 Starters....a Corner OF....and a 1b/DH type....the bats don't all need to be middle of the order (expensive)  guys considering we have Tatis/Soto for "basically" a full season.I hope one (the outfielder) is a high OBP guy we can lead off so Tatis isn't our leadoff guy.

Physical I meant..he had the hamstring lingering stuff from last 2021 season..

I still think that AJP might deal him if he is able to add 2 SP (1 FA 1 trade??) While retaining Nick beyond 2023.. If the plan is to extend Yu and let Snell walk next offseason..and we could replace Snell with say Senga..and add +1 + Martinez.. moving Snell now > value and sets continuity of SP 5 for 23 24 and beyond .. Just a way to make our available $$ go further by adding and subtracting while addressing other needs/upgrades

29 min for Martinez decision or restructure deal..

TBH I wouldn't mind Renfroe back as our RF and hitting 6th.

Word is the Brewers are ready to shake things up and likely to deal major leaguers.

Yes he isn't a high OBP guy but his power and defense are useful.

At least his OBP has been a bit better since he left SD....an identical .315 the last two seasons.

Seriously there are so many ways we could go this off season....can't wait to see how it plays out.

Wouldn't it be more likely we extend Snell and let Yu walk?

Darvish will be almost 38 going into the 2024 season....Snell will just be 31.

I just can't see us extending a 38 year old....unless he has a great 23' and its a one year extension maybe?
