Luzardo would be interesting...Bender TJ so no help in 23..and Cooper fits the bill.. Thoughts?
And question..where do I find that Trade tool?

I think this is selling low on Merrill but it’d fill like 3/4 of our needs 🤷♀️ pic.twitter.com/LIrfLAuvGx

Luzardo is a top-line pitcher not yet in arbitration. IF they wanted to trade him they could land multiple prospects (maybe even ML talent) ... as good as we think Merrill will be, he is an A ball player years from the ML (if he makes it).

True. We also already have a Jesus Luzardo clone on the Padres. He just isn't built up to a starter's workload yet. His name is Adrian Morejon.

Quote from Randy Manese on November 4, 2022, 11:53 pmIt's not like Morejon doesn't have the talent or the composure to be a top flight starter, but rather whether is body will allow him to reach that level. So far, it has been pretty fragile with both shoulder and elbow problems in the past. One year removed from TJ surgery, if we see a new Morejon with the endurance he needs to become that 5+ inning starter, he is probably our best and least expensive SP option to man the #4 slot in the rotation. We can only hope and see what spring training brings. He has the ability to be better than Gore, Patino, Paddack and Baez - all contemporaries in the once dreamed of Padres rotation of the future in 2019.

#4 no..he can't be counted on 6+... not until 24 or 25.. for 2023.(#5 5IP ok).I would do something like Martinez 10 starts avg 5 innings and then to the BP the rest of the season.. top 80-100 IP in 2023 ...100 to 130 in 24 and then 150+... and pray he holds up

Quote from Henry Silvestre on November 5, 2022, 4:57 amSo looking at ETAs
Groome 2023
Waldron 2023
Vela 2024
Wolf 2024
Mazur 2025
Lizarraga 2025
Iriarte 2025
Williams 2026
Snelling 2026
Lesko 2027
MLB SDP
1. Joe (thru 2027)
2. FA (SENGA?? OR the like.. 2027)
3. Martinez (opt in or reworked 3 yr deal 2025)
Seems like we can have a steady stream of young arms ..some elite.. some 4th 5th SP types flowing into Petco yr in and yr out.. without an abundant dump..meaning we can ease ONE arm per yr into our rotation and even if we only add ONE regular SP every 2 yrs with Joe + Martinez + FA stud added this offseason..should be in decent shape for the next 5 yrs..as we turn over the rotation.. just like AJP did for Joe too, I am sure some will be used to go get the next 25-26,yr old with somewhat of a proven track (like Joe)..as well
Obviously many more will be drafted 23-24-25-26 etc.. and signed FA and traded for or against... But let's assume SENGA is the 5 yr/$65 FA add in 2023..
Our 2027 starting rotation (status quo)
1. JOE (final yr)
2. Senga (final yr)
3. Mazur (entering 3rd)
4. Snelling (soph yr)
5. Lizarraga (entering 3rd)
6. Lesko (ROY favorite)
I can see the vision..

Quote from Henry Silvestre on November 5, 2022, 9:14 amGM Meetings start Monday (Nov 7th to the 10th)..
<48 hrs from now... while only smallish type deals are mostly done infrequently at these meetings...a lot of groundwork on bigger trades usually takes place in preparation for Winter Meetings (in SD) a month from today..

Quote from Henry Silvestre on November 5, 2022, 9:23 amAgree with you Randy..but Nick is really not even a #4... he is a perfect #5 SP and we need 6... He should be 5 IP dude no more than 2x thru the lineup.. and based on his "start" game 4 when he pitched 3 scoreless vs this Phillies lineup..I think Nick time as a SP was more him getting comfortable and confident..I think being a Swiss army knife later made him super confident and while not an elite SP he will be amongst the best #5's in baseball if indeed he is SP next season

Quote from MrPadre19 on November 5, 2022, 2:33 pmWhat would it take to get Laureano from Oak?
Imagine an OF of Soto-Laureano-Tatis….offensively and defensively.
Or even Soto-Grisham-Laureano defensively.
