2023 offseason
Quote from Henry Silvestre on October 28, 2022, 9:12 amIf we were to move Grish.. (assuming Tatis Jr in CF) Kiermeier (no way he gets that $13mil option) might be a safe pickup as a Defensive late game replacement/ occasional starter at CF.. soon to be 33.. and coming of a 230 AB season.. he shouldn't command more than 2-3 yrs at $6or so per.. allows Tatis to settle in at CF and thrive .. while protecting him .. as he learns.. late innings Kiermeier to CF ..Tatis to COF..

There would be a lot better options than Kiermeier. That dude is always hurt, and is not a better bat than Grisham really. I would hard pass on Kiermeier. In fact, IMO Azocar is a better option than Kiermeier. I would think that it would not take a lot to get Taylor out of KC, and at least he posts up everyday.

I am saying as a bench player like Azocar.. we don't need to trade anything for such a guy.. not like he is getting 500ABs..think 200-250 max.. why the low $$ in roughly 1/3 the ABs Grish had K had 1.1 WAR which is very solid.. I am getting him to play 1/2 or less of the time (ABs) as Grish ..not the same ..as Tatis will be in that spot most of the time..

Tatis has the speed.. height..athleticism ..and baseball IQ to not only play CF ..But be one of the best CFers in the History of the game.. his height/vertical jump combo is at least +16" vs Grish. His speed and range should be way better as well a diving catch for Grish should be an easy full sprint catch for Tatis... he just needs reps reading the ball off the bats.. having SS as a background on that fast 1st step should equate to Tatis being at least avg to avg + through a full season there.. Before being a GG CFer for the next decade..

If Trea Turner did it, so can Tatis.

Jansen .858 OPS and one of the top 5 specs in the game and #1 C spec is ready to go... Kirk is awesome ..but there is a thing having 3 C for at most 2 spots.. where they can fill 2 other or 3 other needs

It would be like going into 2023 with Kim/Tatis and CJ.. one would have to go to address SP/C/1B holes
Same thinking in Toronto.. they need SP/BP/2B and 1B.. if they can move one of Jansen/Kirk or Montero and get 1 2 or 3 of those holes plugged they got to do it..

Quote from MrPadre19 on October 28, 2022, 1:41 pmWould think they’d trade the older Jansen unless overwhelmed by the package….and we could only overwhelm them with Merrill…and that ain’t happening.
I’d prefer we spend whatever money/assets we have to get another TOR Starter.
Whether it’s Senga or a free agent or a trade with Miami or something else?
This year proved when you reach the playoffs the team with the deepest rotation has the advantage.
Plus after next year we’re going to be looking for Starters anyway.
