Yep, they wont care until a World Series championship parade happens in SD.

Quote from fenn68 on February 26, 2023, 8:22 pmThe longer term moves have set up the Padres for a pretty good 5 year window (wont guess beyond 5 given all the variables).
Under contract:
Offense: Machado; Tatis; Bogaerts; Campusano;
Pitching: Musgrove; Darvish; Suarez; Wilson;
that is good stable base from which the Padres can make moves with FA, trades, prospects as the other players start to move on without forcing choices.
Add that Merrill will be around to replace either Kim (2 years) or Cronenworth (3 years) that will add another impact piece to the offense.
Hopefully by 2026 season we have more impact prospects ML ready to step in and not require adding FA (or making trades).
That group alone should keep them contenders over those 5 years … and if they sign either Ohtani or Soto … really strong contenders needing just good supporting players.
We could be in for a very good run.

Manny will certainly have a Padres hat in the hall . If he plays the whole extension that will give him 15 years here and no doubt a Padres Hat .

It should be a very good run. And while it’s true, we could have some bad contracts that hamstring us in the last few years of these deals, I’ll happily trade that chance for the chance to make this run.

What are everyone else’s feelings about future HOF Padres at this point?
Manny 100%
Darvish?
Boegarts?
Tatis?
Soto?
Yu and Xander need to just keep doing what they’re doing…will it be enough for Yu considering his late(ish) start in MLB?
If Xander plays 10 more years and keeps up a .300/.350/450 pace he could get in.
Tatis is an obvious choice but has a looooong way to go to stay healthy and productive.
Soto the same…but needs to be re-signed also.

Yu needs a CY and WS "elite" performance in my opinion to get in.. he joined the MLB too late..but if you combine JPN and MLB #s he is right there..right now even with 5 more 17w seasons I don't see it without 1 CY or/and a WS title
Bogarts yes.. he has a good resume.. just needs to get to or close to 3000 hits
Tatis and Soto are no brainers but need another 10 yrs of health (Tatis) and continued avg season success.. too early for both but talk to me in 5 yrs..

Quote from Henry Silvestre on February 27, 2023, 9:02 amOur depth chart beyond the 9 + Campy (before Tatis)
1B Rivas
2B Lopes
SS Merrill
3B Batten
C Severino
LF Dahl
CF Azocar (Engel hurt so left out for now)
RF Dixon
DH Kohlwey
A few years back this would be close to our MLB lineup 😆

Thanks to Seidler, we don't have to have sufferer with such major league lineups as you outlined above anymore. Thanks Pete!
This season has the highest expectations since our World Series run in 1998 once we acquired Kevin Brown. But this season's expectations exceed even that team by far. We appear loaded and to not have a weakness, with plenty of depth, especially pitching wise. Can't wait for the season to start plus for FTJ to return on 4/20. Go Pads!

Quote from Randy Manese on February 27, 2023, 9:27 pmWe're going to need that pitching depth. Typically a MLB team goes through 21-25 pitchers a year or 8-12 beyond the initial 13 man opening day roster. Let's hope we are on the low side of those numbers and the arms hold up, especially our big 3 SPs!
