Clearly a candidate, but would not rule out a pitcher without minor league options and little chance to make the 26 man roster … eg Poppin.
At least, in a position player shortage, Batten can be optioned to AAA as some minor level of insurance.
Outside chance can swing a MINOR deal for one of the rostered players for a non-roster prospect and move a “better” player than Poppin … eg Crismatt … might yield a decent “future” or maybe some international spending money?

Knowing AJP he always makes moves in Domino's style.. could a SP (aka Lauer) , not a Marlin, be incoming soon in a move that keeps the 40 intact (Cruz +1 perhaps SP +1 and 2 40 man roster pieces moved -2)..
Seems like everytime AJP does something he does 1, 2 or 3 other things within hours
