I think the tweeter was referring to possible clubhouse issues that could arise from a trade of Kim. Isnt he really popular in the clubhouse?

Manny called him the "heartbeat" of the clubhouse, I believe. By all accounts he's very popular.

That is a stretch to use that as a reason to sign Mancini … having to just assume a clubhouse problem will happen … plus was not Bogaerts supposed to be a plus clubhouse player … Padres had Stammen, Alfaro, Manaea as good clubhouse guys .. oh yeh, Hosmer.
Other than Tatis, are there any bad clubhouse guys on the roster?

While I watch almost every game, very few do I actually listen to the broadcast during the year. With the playoff games I could only watch on the TV versus my computer during the regular season, so I could hear the home crowd react to Kim, and he has definitely become a home town favorite with the fans as well.
So any trade of Kim needs to be a real value to the club, due to his popularity both in the clubhouse and in the stadium seats.

To be honest, I think SD has a very good clubhouse atmosphere. And I sure its a combo of good guys, and winning.
Winning fixes a lot of clubhouse issues.

Agree, he can’t be traded unless it is for a slam duck immediate upgrade for 2023 … and just don’t see that.
Don’t forget he delivered a 3.9 WAR for 2022 and was a Top 10 all around SS for a really cheap price at $7MM (with two years of control). Plus he is the #1 SS replacement if Bogaerts goes down.
Considering what SS have signed for this winter Kim should have a very high price tag.
==========
As for the Houck idea … don’t see what makes him so appealing. At 26, only pitched 60 innings in 2022 (mostly as a RP) and only once (2018 in A+) did he exceed 100 innings. A mere 0.7 WAR last season … had lumbar disectomy surgery last SEP. A key SP in 2023 (or ever) is a big gamble.
Actually no idea (if he was projected as a SP) why the Red Sox would trade him given their SP … Sale perpetual injury risk … the next four projected SP all had ERA over 4.00 with Paxton (34, also a perpetual injury risk and FA after the season), Kluber (36, just signed as a FA), then Pivetta and Whitlock. IF Houck is that good they would not have signed Kluber.
Since not much chance BOST is not a cellar dweller for the next few seasons, why would they trade 5 years of Houck (low cost with control) to get two years of Kim at $7MM per who will be gone by the time they have a chance to contend. Easier to spend that money on Andrus and keep Houck.

Looks like the "Focus" of the org will be on Pitching development
Looks like for at least this yr Salas and next yr DeVie we will be focusing on quality vs quantity in Intl signings with literally all of our $$ going to 1 guy in a few days and also in 2024 as DeVie is #2 spec
Looks like the Padres and their affiliates are rolling out announcements of the coaching staffs for the coming season this afternoon. We'll have the full updates this evening, but TL;DR: there's a lot of new blood in the pitching department.

Yes, BOS probably goes FA, and dwells in the basement this season.
But if BOS and SD wanted to do this trade, you keep focusing on Houck, and that was never my choice or suggestion. In fact, I agree with your assessment of Houck. IF there is a trade to BOS, my choice was both Rafaela and Murphy, BOS #3 and #11 prospects according to MLB.com. Murphy could be in the rotation to start the season, and Rafaela could be ready for SD by the AS break.
But since MIN now has Correa, I still think the only place that Kim gets traded to is ATL. A package of Anderson and Elder both help SD in areas of need this season and next, SP.
