Has to be an exercise in interrelated decisions / moves as to whether Kim gets dealt. Can make a good scenario of keeping Kim (at $7MM) ... deposit Tatis in CF (drop Grisham to the bench) .... and go for lower cost options than Bell at 1B (or use other deletes) while still staying within budget. Is Kim/Tatis > Tatis/Grisham? What are the potential alternatives to Bell (guess $16MM+) that would cost less with still decent productivity? Drury? Campusano? Beaty? Mancini? some combo?

Except the prospect wouldnt come back to SD, it would be Murphy coming to SD, and the prospect/s going to OAK.

Yeah, the biggest decision is Tatis inability to stay on the field. His IL stints seem to get longer each season. So big roll of the dice on whether you can handle having Rosario at SS instead of Kim, if/when Tatis is hurt again.

Im still OK with Grisham in CF. If Profar opts out, I could live with an OF of Tatis, Grisham, Soto all day long, with back ups of Azocar and Beatty. Keep Kim at SS, and then think about the cost/performance difference of resigning either Bell, Drury, or Myers for 1B.

Internally Campusano and Rosario should factor in ... Beaty (don't forget him) will be back ... Grisham is still around ... some combo of them with lower costs alternatives to Bell (Drury, Mancini, others) still would create a pretty potent offense (and defense). Aim the rest of the money on replacing Manaea and Clevinger ... being down two SP will be more of a problem than the offense.

Case NOT to trade Kim.

In all seriousness, Muncy has $13M club option versus a $1.5M buyout. IF Muncy became a FA, do you think that SD should have interest? He is having a down year for him BA wise, but his HRs and RBIs are OK. Not at $13M, but a LH bat for $8M±?

Or is Mancini the better option?
