Agree … but he will get that (Kimbrel, Jensen, Chapman are at $16MM and not as effective now) … and sort of why I would really consider dealing him for payroll space and considering Pomeranz is around from the left side. RP being RP … probably can work around not having Hader at a much lower price point.
Deal him … get a good prospect … use the money to sign Bell for 1B

Wonder what a Drury extension looks like? He has never made much $$ in any season and this is a career yr (or is it his norm going fwd).. perhaps an Option type 1 + 1 or 2+2 type deal could be had *Drury might take the added security... 2/10 with a 2/20 or $2 mil buyout??

OMG A's have like $20 mil in commitments for 2023.. Andrus SS has $15mil option *of that*... But their position players are like very few and far between for 2023.. Wonder if a KIM (3B in 23 then slides to SS in 24 for them)... + Grishman + Alfaro (to help their top prospect adapt) for Laureano (OF/CF) + Murphy C.. better defense ..we probably would have to add some specs but getting a Def C with a solid bat and controlled + Laureano would address areas of improvement and need heading into the offseason.... With Tatis back (CF/SS) Kim or Grishman would have decreased playing time ..maybe both...Laureano upgrades CF and/or can start in LF if Profar leaves...
Not sure what the financial loses are with Korean market etc.. but if not tremendous I can see such a move helping us in many ways.. Campusano and Rosario could assume 2/26 spots and maybe Nola can stick around as well . Especially if one of Drury or Bell leaves.. and Campy becomes 75% of the time DH...

If I recall correctly Andrés has a “vesting option” that has a good chance that the A’s can avoid by limiting his ABs for the rest of the season. Good chance the A’s have no guaranteed contracts for 2023.
Not totally sure of the A’s strategy but seems they want minimize payroll (maybe has to do with the never ending issue on a new ballpark in OAK or moving to Las Vegas) … cash may be a problem on a very low attendance club. A total rebuild is where they are at … and to that end if they make trades of Murphy / Laureano it will be for prospects with 6 year control and minimal cost for at least 3 years.
Murphy has 3 years control and in ARB 1 (so really cheap for his production) and Laureano has 3 years control and in ARB off a $2MM 2022 base. Both should have teams interested … so competition for them.
Can’t see OAK being interested in adding Kim with 2 years control at $7MM and $8MM and Alfaro at 1 year in ARB off a $2.7MM 2022.
Padres may be really interested in adding a gold glove catcher that is low cost with 3 years control … so are other teams … so, not sure the Padres have the quality of prospects left to win the bid. Padres probably would have to lead with Merrill then another good prospect (or two).

No idea how to value a new contract for Drury (and what Drury’s agent will shop to other teams).
Career year at 29 with the bulk coming in a hitter’s park in CINN. Prior to this season, less than a 1 WAR type. Money is always #1 but maybe his agent want to steer him to a team where he can be a full time regular on a 1 year deal to build a base for a better deal in 2024.
Probably need to see his work over the rest of the season before making the call … then given the Padres’ payroll issues they would have to perceive him as one of the 9 “starters” …likely 1B or DH.

But 10 RBIs and 2 HRs in 8 games...so he is SLG... (+ was robbed of 2 other HRs.. but by #'s alone..looking like a 3yr/$9mil ($3per type extension at the moment 😆)

Not sure Manae is worth anything >Martinez too be honest... he is a #5 inning eater ..and Zach Davies (who can pitch like a TOR at stretches) made $1.4mil in 2022..and others like him can be signed at <$8mil.. or even Wethers/Groome/Knher can pitch at Maneas level to be honest at rookie minimum

He is only 23yrs old.. Toronto has Jansen and top spec Moreno (mlb ready).. Bichette should be at 2B .. he is not good at SS... Kim slides right in with 2nd highest WAR (only Vlad higher) on Jays... at SS... would Rosario + Khner + Kim be enough to acquired Tijuana's own Super star C?... Kirk WAR 3.7...Kim 3.1... just thinking out loud (maybe add one reliever out of Pomz/Suarez/Garcia) to get it done?
Kim's #'s in that stadium would be legit scary 20+HRs with that Defense..easy 4 5-5WAR SS

A continuation of thought from the other thread, if we are looking/hoping to get Murphy from OAK, and use Kim as the main piece, then I would think it would have to be a 3 team deal. In which SD sends Kim to a team more ready to compete, that team sends prospects to OAK, and OAK then sends Murphy to SD.
Not sure what contending team or close to contending, will be looking for a SS in the offseason. With Bogaerts, Correa, Swanson, and Turner all being available via FA, there are some choices. Although you would think that LAD are going to resign Turner. But maybe some teams that are up against the CBT number and need a SS improvement would be interested in Kim. Maybe BOS or PHI come to mind off the top off my head. Maybe ATL if they cheap out and dont want to allocate big money to Swanson after giving Riley $20M per season.
