From what I have read, BOS and Devers are almost $100M apart on a contract extension, and BOS can not risk losing another fan favorite for nothing more than a comp pick. So let me make a crazy trade proposal.
SD gets Devers, Sale, and $17.5M in cash. BOS gets Pomeranz, Merrill, Snelling, and Zavala.
Devers is open to an extension, SD signs him for 11 years so he can finish playing with his buddy Xander, and Devers slides to 1B. Line up after Tatis return. Tatis - RF, Soto - LF, Machado - 3B, Devers - 1B, Bogaerts - SS, Crone - 2B, Carpenter - DH, Nola - C, Grisham - CF.
Crone stays at 2B, and Kim gets traded for our long term controllable SPs, Anderson and Elder from ATL.

Sale has huge - value... 1yr of Devers is barely worth Merrill as is... I wouldn't add any specs to Merrill for Devers.. and take on Sale on top of that.. no thanks unless they add Casas which seems like a good trade with Zavala + Snelling for Casas... but with Pomz + Merrill for Devers and Sale and only if Devers camp is indeed $50-$100 mil from proposed deal (so AJP and Pads have the $$ parameters in place to extend)
Devers 1B/Crone 2B/Xander SS and Manny 3B.. Casas DH...
Makes Kim expendable and we go get our SP... using Kim to do so be it on a 3 way..say Kim+ a golden ticket to Twins..Kepler + Arraez to Fish..Pablo Lopez to Pads
Twins get their SS..Fish get their Bat/s.. we get Pablo...
