Kim for Casas 1B #2 Boston spec and Mata RHP SP #6 Boston... makes a lot of sense for both clubs.. Casas had .766 OPS in very limited playing time in 2022 and is the best 1B spec in baseball... Mata is ready for a spot at the MLB level and is a sturdy RHP with good metrics in the minors...

Based on Kim's hit chart he would be close to a .285 BA hitter as a Red Sox player if he just duplicated his 2022 hit chart... he would have peppered the green monster his WAR would have been over 6....

Same hit chart suggest Xander would have had +10 HRs at Petco .. he hits the ball hard BUT the Monster suppressed his power as his line drive swing tattooed it but balls weren't high enough to clear it...

Boston needs a SS bad.. Execs don't see Story as a SS anymore..

Don’t think Boston is giving up 5+ years of two young players for two years of Kim when they won’t be competing…plus adding $7.5 mil.

Makes no sense for where they are right now.

Yes and no... Red Sox need to resign Devers and add a few players to "pretend" to co tent ..

They do have Devers + Yoshira + Story and Verdugo.. so they aren't the Reds.. they also have Jansen (2/$32) to Close games..talk about a backwards signing... I am not sure what they are doing? And if they aren't sure now is the time for a deal like the one I proposed..

They could extend Devers a d Kim and at least show their fan base there is a path foward.. right now they look like a team at a 4 way Stop not knowing what to do...

With the “early” signing of all the top FA … the “insiders” who live on passing along rumors are going to have to be “creative” to keep there tweet streams active for the next month or so. Not sure they can happy reporting on players such as Aaron Brooks signing with the Padres. We will probably be seeing a lot more speculation (not that we don’t already) with less basis.

Looks like Eovaldi might be staying put.. if so that's a deep rotation with Sale healthy..although he hasn't pitched much more than 50 IP since 2020.. why I mention this is why Kim might not be a bad "glue" piece to stabilize the IF... Devers/KIM/Arroyo/Story and Dalbec is not a top 5 IF ..but maybe top 10..and the excess bat can alternate DH..

But if Boston still at the bottom of the East at the Deadline ..then keeping an eye on Sale's health and performance might be good due diligence for the Pads as he is someone (like Kevin Brown a while back) that can catapult us into the WS

Sale at the deadline would be about $12mil or a little less add towards 2023

Then $27.5 for 2024 ..

And has a Vesting option for 2025 at only $20 for finishing top 10 in CY

Not too crazy $$ wise if healthy..

Devers is not going to re-sign with Boston … after what he has seen with Betts, Bogaerts, et al over the past few years … HE will go FA an opt for a better situation (and money).

IF Boston wanted to cater to its fan base they would have re-signed Bogaerts, Eovoldi, maybe even Martinez … and not traded Betts.

Not sure what is going on with ownership but clearly stepping away from the long “big” contracts. Maybe recognize they are way behind NYY, TOT, TB, and BALT in talent and are choosing to focus on a soft rebuild.

With C still the most "upgradable" position in our Roster and dwindling options.. I turned to Eric Haase (who also plays enough LF to intrigue me) he caught 61 games as the starting C.. has a good/great Bat for the position.. is alright at C..but ++ vs the running game.. Tigers sort of in no man's land when it comes to direction atm.. could Haase be an AJP target.. answers LF for 1st 20 games too.. would Tigers be interested in a couple more yrs of control aka Campy (Haase seems to be Campy close to his ceiling with the bat and defensively?? But he is somewhat a proven commodity which is > use for a contender vs an unproven one which could pay > dividens /longer term for the Tigers.. maybe we add a AA/AAA player OF Ornelas for example with a chance to get ABs in 23 in Detroit.. Thoughts?

* his bat is good enough to DH as well if we were to carry a 3rd C (even on occasion) like Severino...

Aaron Brooks 😆... where does he slot in the depth chart

Without seeing Teheran pitch yet (assuming he at least is +.75 ERA worse than career)

For the 6th spot at the moment

1. Teheran

2. Avila..best swing and miss out of the lot

3. Groome- highest upside

4. Wethers- still young can he straighten his career path?

5. Khner

6.  Brooks - how in the hell does a guy like this start 28 games at the MLB level.. I mean Wade LeBlanc looks like CY next to Brooks

Brooks smells like a Bo Mel ask.. "Hey AJP my boy Brooks needs a job can u sign him?" Sure Bob what's his name? (AJP responds).. "Aaron Brooks" ..really Bob? Yes, please I don't intend to use him but would appreciate it if he got a chance at El Paso .. ok Bob.. but don't be pushing for a 40 ma. Roster spot for him ..this ain't Oakland 2.0 no mo... lol

Very interesting stat...

Very interesting stat...

We know what hitting with men on base is … but what is the criteria for “high leverage” situation?

I can see where the “high leverage” stats should have more weight than hitting with runners on.

I have been around long enough to watch players (for example) build up the stats when the team is way ahead (or behind) in games … e.g. losing 10-1 in the ninth and hitting a 2 run HR … not clutch.
