Quote from MrPadre19 on December 23, 2022, 5:52 pmToronto now has Gold Glove caliber outfielders at every position.
Springer-Kiermaier-Varsho is as athletic an OF as there is.
Varsho has speed and power and is great defensively but below average BA/OBp.
Tor does well by improving the major league club w/o losing much but Az does better by getting the top C prospect in the land by trading from a position of strength.
Boy,the AL East and the NL East each have 3 really good teams battling for the Division but in the AL they also have the up and coming Orioles and the Red Sox who won’t be down for long.
‘We actually have it much easier with “just” the dodgers to contend with in the immediate future.
Along those lines I see Az being the 3rd team in our Division for a few years with the Giants having a long way yet to go.(although they have the $ to spend so….)

I think AZ can battle LAD for #2 at the moment... a lot of these young dudes will need to continue what they did 2nd half of last season..especially the young SP behind Gallen/Kelly and Co..
The LAD lineup - Turner and Bellinger and depth Gallo looks a bit green.. the OF only has Betts.. Lux was terrible at 2B. I can't see how he handles SS Defensively... it's Betts/Freeman and Smith........... Muncy and ???? All over the place... they do have Urias .. but lost a lot of P to FA and injury for 2023.. I can see SDP winning the West and LAD having a hard time hanging to 2nd place ..if the AZ youth continues the pace

Quote from Jeremy Hill on December 23, 2022, 6:21 pmSeems like a great trade for the Dbacks. Varsho is an elite defender with some pop, but he has not hit lefties well in his career. Moreno is supposed to be a great defensive catcher who could contend for batting titles. Moreno is controllable for 6 years vs 4 for Varsho and they get a year of Gurriel too.

They are counting on them and they always seem to be even better than anyone thought.
Outman,Vargas,Cartaya and Miller

When have the Duds NOT had good prospects coming up????
That is definitely an organisation to imitate.

Quote from Henry Silvestre on December 24, 2022, 4:11 amKim for Casas 1B #2 Boston spec and Mata RHP SP #6 Boston... makes a lot of sense for both clubs.. Casas had .766 OPS in very limited playing time in 2022 and is the best 1B spec in baseball... Mata is ready for a spot at the MLB level and is a sturdy RHP with good metrics in the minors...
Based on Kim's hit chart he would be close to a .285 BA hitter as a Red Sox player if he just duplicated his 2022 hit chart... he would have peppered the green monster his WAR would have been over 6....
Same hit chart suggest Xander would have had +10 HRs at Petco .. he hits the ball hard BUT the Monster suppressed his power as his line drive swing tattooed it but balls weren't high enough to clear it...
Boston needs a SS bad.. Execs don't see Story as a SS anymore..

We in hard on Cueto.. .he would be nice inning eater ..fun personality.. 150 IP around 3.80 ERA .. perfect 4 and should be cheapish now..at 37 .maybe 2/24 does it.. why 2? To at least add a +1 to our 2024 SP rotation ..
We in on Eovaldi.. this one requires 3/60 and a 3rd and 6th draft pick loss.. injuries make me worried here.. if we didn't have the 1 2 3 we have sure.. but since we do..Cueto might be the smarter move..

Don’t think Boston is giving up 5+ years of two young players for two years of Kim when they won’t be competing…plus adding $7.5 mil.
Makes no sense for where they are right now.
