There he goes... Wil to the Reds

It should be a good place for him, he should mash in that band box of a park, and I think the fans will love his grit and playing style. It seems like a deal that SD could have easily met if they wanted to, so Preller must not have been as excited about Wil returning as some on here.

I find it a little disheartening that Preller isnt scouring these chats, and gleaming from our savvy expertise on here.

We should market ourselves as a consulting collective specializing in all things Padres 😂

Grisham 2.6 WAR vs Reynolds 2.9 WAR..

You vastly misunderstand the caliber of player that Reynolds is compared to Grisham. If Grisham hadnt hit 3 HRs in the series versus the NYM, you would have called for his outright release and would have been happy to replace Grisham with Azocar.

The fact is that Reynolds career OPS+ (which is park adjusted) is 127, compared to Grishams OPS+ of 99. That means he is 28% better than Grisham at the plate, then add in the factor that he is a SH, that has a career BA .281 compared to Grishams .222.

Finally, I dont think PIT would want Grisham, they have been rumored to want pitching, and Grisham wont fit their competitive window, so Reynolds would be an ADD to the OF. Providing SD with the ability to have a true ML OF everday with someone resting or DHing, and in case of injury. Because as much as you can deem Tatis healthy from a video of him dancing in a club. The fact is, Tatis to this date has never completed a full season, and a WS caliber team can not rely on Azocar for an extended injury.

But you could probably expand the deal and get both Reynolds and Brubaker, and then soak in the glory of winning the World Series this year.

I know this... I am just saying Grish is not chopped liver... and how many ex Pirates need to be Petco'd adjusted OPS or not (Giles/Frazier/Bay never hit well here/Reynolds?) Before we realized Petco is a thing...

BTW

I need the Void in my ❤️ atm to be filled by The Moss of VOIT!.. lets Go AJP 1/$4.25 gets Voit back and his wife loves SD... doesn't need to be the guy at DH/1B...just a bat off the bench for them walk off opportunities a la Alfaro 2022..and in the lineup 80-100 times ..batting 6th or lower... not the same pressure and yet he was our 3rd best hitter as a PADRE .733 OPS in 2022..

Barnhart to the Cubs

Barnhart to the Cubs

He got a little more than I thought, I would have liked him here in SD, but not at that price.

I still want Kluber unless AJ is working on a trade.

As far as a final bat/bench piece since Myers is gone I guess there aren't too many decent inexpensive options left that can play 1B.

Haven't heard anything about Brandon Belts market....he's gonna get more than we will want to give I assume?

If we want another lefty there aren't many options....unless we just get an outfielder.

Then we have Pollock,Peralta,Calhoun,Dickerson,Grossman,Naquin,Tapia,Gamel and Dom Smith...all LH corner outfielders who shouldn't be too expensive.

Anyone think we sign another outfielder?

Severino serves the Insurance purpose ..and I really want to see if Campusano can be the  next JTR.. the 1st Campy or the next Alfaro at C... lets hope he becomes at least league avg at C and ++ at the plate

I am kind of in the trade for a young controllable SP Clarke Schdmit NYY, JT B Pitt,, or any of the 4 Marlins available ..to various degrees and at various projections and costs we would cover 1 of 6 spots for 23 24 and beyond in some cases.. some are #4/#5 types others are #2 /#3 types or better

I think to sustain our current status (talent) we going to need 2 of 6 SP to be low cost types if not 3 of 6 starting in 2024

.. getting 1 via trade now and developing one of our own would go a long way to stabilize our SP situation. Now a d in theFuture

position player wise +1 or 2 cheapish productive options like the ones u me tuo Ed are fine

Yes, I would take Kluber of Cueto.

Dont forget, that Dominic Smith is actually a 1B, and was pushed into LF by Pete Alonso. So, if his bat can rebound, might be a good choice.

Yes, we need one more OFer.
