2023 offseason

The last report I saw had him resuming baseball activities in January and full go by spring training. Unless he has a setback he should be good to go when eligible. I don't expect him to be back in peak form from the jump, but until there is something to indicate otherwise that's the timeline I'm rolling with.

I would put Carpenter in LF and let Campy get most of the DH ABs until Tatis gets back with the current roster. If Dixon, Dahl, Kohlwey, Batten, Azocar or someone else has a big spring maybe they adjust from there.
What's the $$$ pool penalty on 10 spots lower.. I dont think the 10 spots are a big deal ... especially since we are towards the end of rd 1.. but the overall $$ pool (again drafting lower) shouldn't be more than a couple 100k... not like being #5 and dropping to #15 where it would be millions...
Last year it would have been about 700k. On it's own that might not be a big deal. Couple it with the lost picks for signing Bogaerts and we would be down a significant amount of pool money.

The moves AJ has made(or hasn’t made) certainly doesn’t seem like the moves of someone expecting to not have Tatis in the OF when first eligible.
We all thought we needed a starting corner OF even “with” expecting Tatis back in April.
AJ still has not signed or traded for one.Carpenter is not that guy so…..🤷🏻♂️

How huge would a .245/.340/.425 Grishman 2023 be???? DIDN'T Know Carpenter and Grish were workout partners in the offseason... good to know

I would throw in Campusano as the DH if they keep Sullivan or add Severino while Tatis is out and they can be the emergency back-up catcher.

Mlbtraderumors suggests Pirates could/would trade JT B.... I look at him and his ramp up in IP and his consistent BB/9 and SO/9 #'s .. and add Petco suppression and that ERA is around 3.85 in San Diego... AJP go get this guy...

I have zero faith in any of the current bench options holding a corner OF slot for an extended period … Azocar is the best option because of defense but hard to tell where his bat will be in his second season.

Wil Myers would answer a few questions.. people thinking he will ink a 1/6-8 mil deal.. certainly ok with that

Still thinking Zach Davies needs to come home... His stint in SD 2 71 ERA was extraordinary.... he regularly goes 150 IP and as a 5th or 6th SP is about as good as it gets... He won't cost much either.. no one on his radar..its crazy...
