Way I see the BP evolution

Hader replaced by Suarez in 2024

Pomz doesn't need to be replaced as he is a luxury now.. we were fine without him in 22

Garcia gets replaced by Wilson

We won't have the luxury of 2 closer Hader/Suarez... But we will have a lot of power arms (Hoping Lopez works out/Castillo/Baez/Cosgrove (can he be Wilson 22 in 23?)/ Lugo (our milb one)/Morejon/Felipe/ etc.. etc..so maybe we can get away with a younger talented but inexperienced BP in 2024.. or simply add 1 or 2 lowish ($3mil per) guys to support the youth

We could pivot from dominant BP to just Good BP in 24 (1st half) and then adjust accordingly at deadline

Not likely the re-sign Pomeranz or Garcia and probably not Hader (too big a contract for a RP with Suarez around) … but that hopefully is a lot of production lost … Suarez / Wilson will be holdovers so will need three productive bodies … 2023 minor league work by the prospects may yield quality replacements … or not.

I would keep an eye out for some of the internal non-roster RP who can quickly jump into the mix. RP just need a two pitch mix, some velocity with movement in short bursts, and decent command … that can come together quickly taking a RP from obscurity to prospect quickly.

Lugo will be in AAA but just keep an eye out for Guerrero, Mundo, there are others. One an interesting follow is A ball arm Chase Walter … basically injured all last season but was lights out in 2021. Maybe a full bust or maybe blasting up the levels. RP are a mercurial lot.

The international league guy who pitched (SP) at LE ..name escapes me atm.. looked really good ... could be someone that becomes real good BP arm down the road

https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=snider000dun

This guy..Duncan Snider... I saw him pitch at LE as a SP.. he has a power arm that would +2 mph as a BP arm and he looked pretty nasty.. wore down a bit and got hit in his 4th inning of work.. but in short bursts could be someone to keep an eye on.. 24yrs old already so just maybe a product of being older in league vs projected value..but he looked pretty nasty 1st time through the order back in July or so..

Lots of solid arms at AA too.. like Jacob... interesting to see Preston Tucker as OF in AA roster... I know assignments usually change ...but still..

Brito/Jacob/Wolf 3 of the arms ill be keeping a close eye on at AA

https://www.milb.com/el-paso/roster

Hmmm looks like they are really pushing Efrain Cronteras SP bumping him all the way to AAA...

That OF looks solid in El Paso.. Ornelas/Kohlwey/Dahl/Liberato

My remaining offseason wish lost

1 of the Marlins SP arms.. anyone

OR

SP Rucinski 1yr $4.5 with a vested option (20 starts) of $8mil for 2024... works for me..Option becomes team option of $6mil or $1 mil buyout if vested (20,starts) is not met

1 RH cheap bat.. offer Voit and Myers 1/$5.5 with a $1 mil All Star bonus.. he who accepts 1st is here for 23

1 LH bat/or switch.. same offer to Grossman/Peralta etc...

We just got Carpenter

11:52am: Carpenter will be guaranteed $12MM on the contract, tweets Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. That figure presumably encompasses both his 2023 salary and a likely buyout on the 2024 option. Rosenthal notes that the deal can max out at $21MM over two years, but Carpenter would need to exercise the player option and reach a full slate of performance incentives in order to secure that total.

==============

flat out surprised on a $12MM guarantee .... even if split over 2 years.

11:52am: Carpenter will be guaranteed $12MM on the contract, tweets Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. He’ll be paid $6MM this season and the value of the 2024 option is also $6MM, tweets Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Rosenthal notes that the pact can max out at $21MM, though Carpenter would need to exercise the player option and reach a full slate of performance incentives in order to secure that total.

===========

$6MM base in 2023 is fine in this market ... will be interesting to see what the incentives are ... has to be AB I guess.

Cassavell seems to think he becomes super utility a DH/1B/2B/3B/LF/RF ... not sure how much he has appeared in some of those roles. Good veteran with a track record on contending teams so that is a plus.

Hopefully he is closer to the 2022 version that the previous 3-4 years.

Fuck it I aint concerned about $$ no more... Seidlets grandchildren can sleep on skid row for all I care... LFGXD!

He has 40 games in OF 28 starts..has 40 at DH.. 100's at 1B/3B and 2B... Lefty bat ..but hits lefties well also career .807 OPS vs lefties .. .840ish vs RHP... Great add Veteran who is great for 250 ABs perfect ... bring back Voit now on 1/5... and we ride

Been to the post season 7 times so he brings that to the table... Dont need him to do much really.. play 20 games in a row in April and then DH 2 or 3 times a week..spell Manny and 1B 1 or 2x's every 3 weeks.   Keep him sharp and rested

The bar .733 OPS Voit ...722 Drury as Padres is pretty low for this professional hitter
