MINN dangling Arraez but their primary targets SP controlled for at least 2 years (not good SP prospects). They still think they can contend in the AL Central next year.
Kim vs Arraez is an interesting valuation debate … would think a plus defensive SS tops a good singles hitting 2B. Also, if Tatis is at SS with Kim gone … when Tatis gets injured Padres are dead in the water with no ML quality SS.
I guess a different debate if the Padres sign one of the remaining SS (Tatis to RF).

I guess it depends on which is best for defensive purposes......Tatis in LF & Berti at 2B...or the other scenario.
Personally I can't get behind Tatis in LF and Soto in RF.
Tatis's arm should be in RF if he's in the OF.
I could see a flop of Tatis and Soto, with Soto in LF and Tatis in RF.

Yeh, I would give that a high probability … even if they don’t add a SS UNLESS they add Judge. (Note Judge coming to the Winter Meetings tomorrow … good chance for a press conference on signing with ????)

Since all indications the Padres were serious on Turner … and by inference willing to put Tatis in the OF and shift Kim/Cronenworth to 2B/1B … really wonder how hard Preller may go after one of Correa, Bogaerts, and Swanson.
Not sure who else is really in on them (at the apparent price point). MINN is after Correa but likely could (will) be out bid. NYY are in the mix. Which other “big money” team is in the hunt?
Maybe one of the three will be a Padre since hard to list three teams looking for and willing to pay the going price for SS.

Last week, CBS did list SD as one of the 5 long shot landing spots for Judge. Imagine an OF of Soto in LF, Tatis in CF, and Judge in RF.
Could see a 140+ HRs from a SD outfield.................SCARY!!!!!!

Again a non confirmed rumor but one report is that the Padres offered Turner more than he signed for with PHIL.
What we don’t know if the Padres wanted Turner to change positions or had some conditions within the offer that did not appeal … or just that the reported desire for Turner to be on the East Coast (family and wife’s family) … when getting $300MM a few more dollars may not be the most important factor.

I would think the Twins would need to send someone else in that swap, I think Kim is more valuable than Arraez.
And Kim is controlled for a year longer than Arraez.
So maybe Kim and Weathers for Arraez and Kepler???

Although, maybe that is a fair deal.
Two years of Kim for three years of Arraez.
Thought it was pretty close.
Maybe they want Avila or Knehr instead of Weathers.
But obviously depends on if they end up getting one of the remaining FA SS's.
Seems Kim for Arraez is close enough it wouldn't take too much for either side to add something.
Just a thought....
