Rumors of Rodon,Boegarts,Turner,Senga,Abreu……is this real life?

What did I miss, where are the Rodon, Boegarts and Turner rumors?

I saw an article that said Soto made a joke about wanting Bogaerts to come to San Diego at a charity event they were both at. No idea on the other 2.

Twitter mainly….for what it’s worth.

But I think it was Bowden on MLB that mentioned Rodon to SD.

As all know AJ inquires on everyone….who knows what’s serious and what isn’t.

With payroll already over $200 mil it’s just crazy to long time Padre fans that we could even be considering “any”additional spending.

This is the time of the year where every “insider” links teams with players based on their view of a match or a scrap of information that a GM is “interested”. Sometimes just to fill an article or fill on a broadcast.

Padres are an easy target for links because of perceived team needs as a contender, Preller’s history of big signings, Siedler’s recent history of boosting the payroll, and agent “leaks” (real or nor) of Padres’ “interest”.

Given Preller … he is “interested” in everyone and does due diligence by contacting agents … sometimes just to gauge the overall market by understanding what players are asking to shape his strategy on his real targets. Actually Preller’s interest in Player A may help him in getting his real target Player B to move the negotiations forward.

”Interested” and “checking in on” any player is a long long way from Preller being willing and able to make any player and offer and sign them.

Any interest in re-signing Nomar Mazara (LHH OF) for a BENCH/platoon DH role?

Given the current BENCH options the threshold for improvement is verily low. He signed last April a minor league deal and ended up as a call-up for about a couple of in mid-season. He at least hit in the mid-.200s and was league minimum type … so, should become a piece considering the payroll and trying to ensure the big money is targeted towards a starter?

Not sure of who to add to the bench mix … at (or near) minimum as a LHH with ML experience who could handle a part-time / bench role.

Heyman even mentioned the Boegart rumors.

Considering we in no way are "in need" of a SS makes you wonder.....there must be some smoke out there.

Mis-direction by someone ... just gets Boegart's price up to the detriment of all the teams in the real hunt.

I think you always have to be skeptical with Heyman reports about Boras clients. I guess if they committed to Jake at 1B and Tatis in the OF it could work. It also seems like there would be simpler fits if they were going to spend that kind of money. You can't really rule anything out with AJ at the helm and Seidler cutting checks though. Who knows where this off-season might go once things start moving?

Like I said in jest the other day. AJ Preller proudly presents Soto and the SSs.

Sign Bogaerts and Turner. Tatis, Turner, and Soto in the OF. Then Machado, Kim, Bogaerts, and Crone in the INF, and Nola (former MiL SS) at C.

8 SSs and Soto.

Santana signs with Pirates cheap 1/6.75.. Choi and Santana added pretty interesting ..
