2023 offseason

Pomeranz could be a pivotal player during ST (once he shows he can pitch healthy … or not).

Don’t see them dealing Hader … rather preserve the Hader / Suarez two headed closer … maybe using both in a game with two high leverage situations but more setting them up to have one available to close every game (neither is going more than 81 games without their arms falling off).

With Hader and Hill as a LHRP base … and Castillo, Morejon, Kerr, Cosgrove in the wings (maybe Groome) for the 3rd LHRP … Pomeranz could be moved for a useful return piece and/or reduce AAV by $8.5MM.

We really need to hope Pomeranz hits ST ready and shows quality stuff to generate a trade market.

AJ keeps tabs on everybody. I saw a report the other day that he had checked on the big 4 SS market.

A lot of people speculating is Trea.. BUT I heard an AJP interview a yr + ago in which he was all gaga about Xander B.. . Wonder if the thinking (analytically) is Manny/Kim/Xander/Crone ..with Tatis at CF is the best fWAR roster construction wise.. Xander Wil cost $25..(8/175) so not as much as the Correa/Turner deals would.. would also add a perfect compliment to the lineup BUT if the SS thing has any legs then $25 +$15-$17 for a SP.. +$40 mil ($270ish for 2023) pretty much would have to round out the LF/DH spots (unless Tatis COF and Grish stays in CF) then only DH from Campy/Dixon/Rosario or a waiver claim...

Again just Henrying around here based on rumors..about SS

I could maybe see a Correa like deal if one of their markets doesn't develop as expected. A big long-term deal seems unlikely. If there's good value on a short-term deal I think Seidler would be on board.

Reports are that WASH will non-tender Luke Voit (no way they pay the estimated $7.5MM ARB). Last season he made $5.5MM.

Was not fond of him with the Padres BUT less fond of the current 1B/DH options … so would the Padres bring him back? At what maximum price? Would he take that?

1/4.5?

Voit as the DH..occasional 1B is not as bad as it seems..he was our best DH in 22.. and he didn't have the protection (Bell/Drury/) had around him..hell Bell didn't even Crack. 600 OPS with us at DH.. and Drury wasn't much better..Voit has ample DH games under his belt that he can handle the mentality of not playing on D.. its obvious Bell struggles big time when not playing the field..

Voit should 100% be Plan B .. if Yoshida or Abreu are plan A at DH... obviously Plan IH (in house) is Campy/Dixon there

Dodgers have problems...

Anyone think for the right price Bellinger would be worth a look?  Good defensive OF with his offensive past(long past)?

Bellinger would be interesting. You could give him the chance to win the 1B job with his OF work to fall back on. He seems like a guy that should reach out to Joey Votto and/or Matt Carpenter to see what they did to get their swings back.

Brian Anderson and Jeimer Candelario were also non-tendered. They would probably be my top choices amongst the guys cut loose today.

Until he figures out how to hit again the only thing he has going for him is his OF defense.

Would not suggest using him at 1b and losing that.
