I'd do Jameson + McCarthy for Crone

Sort of a re-alocation of assets.. we need LF and Kim/Tatis can cover SS/2B..and Rosario can start 1st 20 games.. Jameson could keep this up and be Joe like or fall apart and be good 6th/7th insurance.. he wasn't a top spec so???

That just loses another LH bat in Crone. Still not gaining any ground in the way they need to go, another productive LH bat.

Isn't McCarthy a lefty?.. they replace each other.. then can sign a lefty DH/1B..

Why would AZ want Cronenworth when they have Marte at 2B / Ahmed at SS? At least want him enough to give up 5 years / league minimum starting RF in McCarthy.

Have u seen Marte field lately.. maybe the worst fielding 2B in baseball.. I dont know what happened to Marte but he is approaching DH only status..

I am surprised Brewers havent made 2 or 3 trades today yet... I cant see them going to arb with all these dudes (like +$80 mil in proj arb) or non-tendered anyone yet...

5pm deadline looming (8pm Est) .. for non-tenderse.. expecting a flury of moves over the next 4+ hours

Mets expected to non-tender Dom Smith … LHH 1B/DH … at one point a good hitter then some hard times … not a good defender … should be signed for a very low cost as a FA (Mets have been unable to trade him).

Worth a shot with open slots … maybe even fallen enough for a minor league deal and invite to ST

I was thinking Minor league deal with ST invite

After visits with Cubs/Jays/Mets and Padres...

Senga following ALL except Mets.. looks like NYM is out!

How about this for a strategy for the Padres:

Senga AND Rucinski and go with a 6 man rotation with Darvish, Musgrove, Snell, and Martinez (as they started 2022) … provide SP insurance for late in the season … time to let the best survive for the end of the season. Plus if Senga is 5 years and Rucinski is 2 … coverage for 2024 with Darvish / Snell FA.

Then, with the added pitcher, frees up dealing a RP or two (always in demand) for the missing bats (at maybe a lower cost than a FA).

Could (should) get both for about $20MM.

AJ keeps tabs on everybody. I saw a report the other day that he had checked on the big 4 SS market.

A lot of people speculating is Trea.. BUT I heard an AJP interview a yr + ago in which he was all gaga about Xander B.. . Wonder if the thinking (analytically) is Manny/Kim/Xander/Crone ..with Tatis at CF is the best fWAR roster construction wise.. Xander Wil cost $25..(8/175) so not as much as the Correa/Turner deals would.. would also add a perfect compliment to the lineup BUT if the SS thing has any legs then $25 +$15-$17 for a SP.. +$40 mil ($270ish for 2023) pretty much would have to round out the LF/DH spots (unless Tatis COF and Grish stays in CF) then only DH from Campy/Dixon/Rosario or a waiver claim...

Again just Henrying around here based on rumors..about SS

Dominic + Wil platoon at 1B

I wouldn't put it past AJP to trade 1 of Pomz (now or later) /Snell or Hader ..or 2 of them between now and opening day.. Snell only after signing SENGA.. even if we go with 6.. Rucinski 5th/Groome 6th..or even a Matt Strahm/Cristmatt 6th by committee when warranted..

Again if AJP is looking beyond 23 and he can get MLB ready/proven talent for Hader or Snell..even Pomz (Spring training) I think u do it.. if we QO Snell and Hader we only get a 4th rd pick..cause we would be over CBT (likely)..why not strengthen weaknesses while getting a > return and = or > results from replacements??
