With Varsho, Carroll, Thomas and now Lewis also in the mix I think there's a good chance they move an outfielder. I agree that they'll probably want pieces that are closer to MLB ready though.

Well there are some industry people that disagree with you, since they have Carroll, Varsho, locked in for a long time as well. And have Thomas, McCarthy, and Fletcher all are LHH and many are capable of CF. And I believe that McCarthy is the oldest.
So yeah, you could get McCarthy out of AZ, its just going to cost a lot.

I read a few days ago, they would like to upgrade at C, not sure if SD can help them in that area, since not sure what the value of Campusano is around MLB.
Since I am not a fan of Campusano's ability, I would be willing to build a package around Campusano if that got me McCarthy. Especially if I could then flip Grisham for something else. But if you could trade for Grisham, why would you not just go to AZ and outbid SD for McCarthy.
So I dont see McCarthy in SD brown anytime soon. As I originally said, Beer could be a get for SD, and while he cant play CF, he can play both corners and 1B, and those are our two biggest holes. He would be a bounce back gamble for sure, but has a MiL track record that is pretty good.

AJ keeps tabs on everybody. I saw a report the other day that he had checked on the big 4 SS market.

Agree they will (likely will) trade an OF … just not McCarthy for for low minor league prospects. I would bet they hold on Varsho - McCarthy - Carroll and dangle out Fletcher and Thomas.
If they trade them it will be for someone to help them in 2023 (they have minor league options). My understanding is they are focused on RP.
Padres have RP … so if they were willing to consider Wilson - Morejon - Castillo - Baez, some combo might interest AZ but probably not for the first three AZ OF who are projected as their starters with a ML track record.

I'd do Jameson + McCarthy for Crone
Sort of a re-alocation of assets.. we need LF and Kim/Tatis can cover SS/2B..and Rosario can start 1st 20 games.. Jameson could keep this up and be Joe like or fall apart and be good 6th/7th insurance.. he wasn't a top spec so???

Why would AZ want Cronenworth when they have Marte at 2B / Ahmed at SS? At least want him enough to give up 5 years / league minimum starting RF in McCarthy.

That just loses another LH bat in Crone. Still not gaining any ground in the way they need to go, another productive LH bat.
