Probably their guy from the get go if available but I wonder if they paused at all with Collier there?

May be a signability thing with Collier..…..as he continues to fall?

Probably not if they had a strong commitment to Lesko and a pre-negotiated deal. Also, possible they did not have extensive discussions with the Collier camp and really had little handle on his demands for signing.

Lesko's change is amazing...this kids makeup is off the charts too.. I like this pick at 15 a lot...

Collier….Crawford…..Lesko…..Delauter?

I have a bad feeling about Barriera….not sure why.

By bad feeling I mean I don’t think he’s a great pick in the first round…..glad we didn’t take him.

And there goes Collier so…

If he is locked into an under slot (very likely) opens up options for #39 and the 2nd round.

Collier signabikity at #39.. Pads can take some college dude next at $1mil under slot .. then use $$ from #15 (under) and the 2nd rd pick to make Collier a skip College offer..

Well Collier is gone at #18.

Brock Porter still available. I wonder why?

#48 goes #20 ... reach for ATL? Big under slot for money later?

Probably contract demand on Porter but if some team can put together enough under slot picks they might put enough together for a late signing over slot.

Wonder if Prielipp as a TJ recovering LHP actually make it to #39 and the Padres get two big upside arms that were before their injuries Top 5 projections?

Have to give Preller some credit by sticking to his philosophy of taking risk for high upside. Lesko probably will not see game action until 2024 and not see the ML to 2026-7 at best ... but if he is as advertised worth the wait for the organization.

Clearly Preller is not worried about his short term future and is making a pick that he sees as best for the Padres ... not his.

Prielipp seems like more of a #2, #3 starter or closer to me. Of course he will make it to MLB much faster than Lesko.

I am OK with getting a legit #2 SP at #39. His HS and early college were very strong ... then 2020 and TJ just let him fade in the rankings. Yeh, he could hit the majors a couple of years sooner than Lesko ... 2025?
