Short of a LONG run this year, ownership needs to question Tinglers' future.
Doubt solely the decision of Tingler … more the strategy of multiple parts of the organization and Tingler just makes the in game moves consistent with the plan going in.
(I would have gone with Paddack into the 6th) … however apparently they did want Paddack to face the top of the order (including Freeman) for a third time and … in the view of some … Paddack was starting to give up hard contact. Padres have the pen and Pomeranz is supposed to be a quality set-up man.
Note: I know the statistics show that RP are better than SP the third time around but there are times (and this is one) were you should challenge that up 3-0 in the sixth of a seven inning game and the pen is still there if a quick hook is needed.

What are the complete game rules for a 7 inning game? Still have to get through 5?

Not heard of anything different than the 5 inning rule.
Also, the tarp is back on and the rain is not the hardest of the night with little chance of near term letup … umps are now headed to the Atlanta clubhouse. Expect the game is suspended considering this is a getaway day for the Padres.

No idea what they are doing in Atlanta?
They put the tarp on the field and it was barely sprinkling...they wasted 30 minutes of good enough weather to play in,
Then they pulled the tarp and spent 20+ minutes spreading dirt around the infield that “they had covered” when it “wasn’t raining”?
Then as soon as they finished that......of course....it started to rain....so the put the tarp down again!
It was the bottom of the fifth!
They could have finished the 5th and probably the 6th....before they really ever needed to delay the game.
Ridiculous!

What is Blake Snells’ issue with strike one?
Its like he doesn’t want to throw a strike on the first pitch and ultimately gets behind every hitter and ends up only going 3-4 innings.
I mean….it isn’t working…..so try something else!
Like,well, I don’t know….maybe throwing strike one!

6 shutout innings and only 90 pitches … good to see:
1. Marlins a poor hitting team
2. Snell over his career has been a second half pitcher
3. Nola is catching
4. Snell likes FLA
5. Miami is a pitcher’s ballpark
whatever the cause … I like it.

Paddack, Snell, and now Musgrove. Padres getting some length from their starters for the first time this year.
