Never know but most of the reports are he will be headed to a rehab with first focus on his hitting. He has been fitted with a knee brace and really not ready apparently to be an immediate catching option.

I believe he was doing his IL work here in SD … so maybe he is leaving for the rehab assignment.

 

Nola added to the El Paso roster on a rehab assignment today.

Based on most of the reports on the SP available ... not that impressive (yet likely very costly given the teams looking for SP help). Preller may have to take a gamble on a lower profile arm and hope that Darvish, Snell, Lamet, and Weathers are back (healthy) by the end of July ... and effective.

Nola's bat should help ... and given his knee I would hold on to Rivas as the back-up catcher and DFA Mateo. Frees up Nola for some 1B work to spell Hosmer who is struggling offensively.

Kimbrell (given the teams that want a closer) will be more costly in prospect assets plus a cost issue may be his $16MM vesting option for 2022 (guessing it will vest). Maybe my faulty memory but when Kimbrell got dealt from the Padres ... didn't he express that he was happy to get out of SD (no idea of the reason). Marcano +?
