2021 Season

Hard to explain but other than Snell (Away) and Paddack (Home) the pitching if strong (especially if Lamet returns). Consider HOME / AWAY ERA splits for the starters:

Darvish ...... 2.12 (68 innings) / 3.71 (34 innings)

Musgrove ... 2.89 (53 innings) / 3.07 (41 innings)

Snell ........... 1.43 (38 innings) / 9.09 (33 innings)

Paddack ....  7.08 (34 innings) / 3.98 (41 innings)

Lamet ........  3.80 (21 innings) / 3.46 (13 innings)

Weathers ...  3.41 (29 innings) / 2.60 (28 innings)

That is six starters so IF Lamet returns to health (but likely with limited innings) and Weathers can be managed through limited innings ... maybe not in crisis status. Except for Snell on the road and Paddack at home ... that is a deep effective staff.

Gut reaction was to platoon Snell (only pitching at home) and Paddack (only pitching on the road) ... not going to happen. Why the magnitude of the home v road splits is unfathomable ... and how to fix the bad sides is equally unfathomable.

Hard to watch last few games when it's 5 to 0 before you know it

Welcome (back) to Slam Diego, Daniel Camarena!

I was so close to calling it a night and getting some sleep when I saw Tatis would be up next inning and decided to watch one more.So instead I was up way too late to see Grisham’s game winning single.
What a come back!

Still can’t get over that game.

Camarena and Grisham are the heroes and deservedly so....but that HR from Tatis started it all and if doesn’t hit that I believe it’s still 8-0 going into the 5th and that comeback never happens.

20-20 before the  All Star break.😳

Actually he could still get to 30-20 if you think about it.

Welcome (back) to Slam Diego, Daniel Camarena!

I guess we've found our left handed hitting bopper off the bench!

Hey.....Camarena!

It was being tweeted that Reiss Knehr has been promoted to SD, and Padres are still listing the SP as TBD.

Do you Knehr gets the start tonight?

Good chance he does … he was pulled from starting yesterday (or the day before) and has not pitched since July 1 … so he could go anytime this weekend.

Sounds as though they are bumping Snell back … still under the weather / weak … and Lamet is not returning before the All-Star break. So Tonight may be the night!

I guess someone goes to the 60 day IL (Northcraft? Ramirez?) or gets DFA.

Padres would have added to the 40 man this winter (Rule 5 eligible).

Good luck.

Also was tweeted that Austin Nola was seen at the San Diego airport with all his gear in tow.

With Caratinis' finger hurt....is Nola back also?

Never know but most of the reports are he will be headed to a rehab with first focus on his hitting. He has been fitted with a knee brace and really not ready apparently to be an immediate catching option.

I believe he was doing his IL work here in SD … so maybe he is leaving for the rehab assignment.
