2021 Season

PreviousPage 67 of 114Next

CJ Abrams is out for the year....broken Tibia and torn MCL.....I'm bummed as I was hoping to see him as a call up later this year...........that is a bummer for the young man for sure and then see Snell throw so many pitches that he can't get the win because he didn't go five innings.....have my fingers crossed that the Padres can hold onto this game for a win and not waste Machados two HR game

Mateo should do nothing in batting practice but practice bunting.

He can’t hit….so bunt and use his speed which at this moment is his  only attribute.

I am seeing the end for Mateo coming soon … still betting it is consistent with the activation of Nola.

Mateo’s “speed” is just not a factor since Tingler rarely uses him for that … even in the rare time they are in the 10th. Probably afraid he will have to field or bat later in the game.

From the recovery reports on Nola … they are still cautious about Nola’s ability to catch regularly with his knee … but he is a better hitter than Mateo and can play 2B/1B if needed with less impact on his knee. I bet he might even bunt better than Mateo.

I would be OK with O’Grady until Nola is ready as long as Mateo is moved off the roster.

So you think we will carry 3 Catchers?

I just don’t see the advantage of this considering the offensive production from Rivas.

I realize Nola can play elsewhere but is he really a good defender at other positions?

Especially considering how good Jake is at 1b with Kim available at the other infield positions.

Personally I’d prefer sending Rivas down when Nola is available and releasing Mateo for a better bat(O’Grady,Marcano,or even Kivlehan.)

Give Mateos’ 40 man spot to my guy Robbie Podorsky….still has great speed but much better contact hitter who can bunt.

3 catchers only until they are comfortable with Nola carrying a full catching load without sending him back to the IL. That may be few weeks of testing him at the ML level sitting behind the plate … in the interim his bat off the bench is greater than Mateo’s.

IF they see Nola not being ML ready … I would probably lean towards O’Grady. Marcano may be the better prospect (and maybe the better option in the long run) but rather see him playing every day in AAA (called up for a major injury) and allow the more veteran O’Grady and is LH bat be around to PH.

Podorsky! I wish the kid could stay healthy. Seems to have the hitting skills, seems to have the speed and could be a good bench option … has to prove it in games. Couldn’t be worse than Mateo.

Good bounce back win.

We don’t need any more 3 or more losses in a row.

We are seeing the Nats at a good time…. But then so did the Dodgers.

Looks like we will be seeing Scherzer though on Wednesday…….future Padre.😉

We need this win tonight.

At home against Fedde who we should be able to score on a few times.

Ryan Weathers is 21 and may have the best move in Baseball.

Got our 3 run lead back...now let’s keep it this time eh?

Paddack has a bad outing … 2 innings / 7 runs / 67 PITCHES. Bullpen will get stretched again.

Thought: since Paddack will not pitch again before the All-Star break and likely the rotation will be adjusted after the break so that Paddack’s next start will be more than 10 days away … shouldn’t the Padres option him to the minors? Call up a RP to help the pen until his rotation spot comes up then recall him or someone else (Lamet may be ready by then).

Not sure if time in the minors will benefit Paddack but his starting with the Padres is not benefiting the Padres in a pennant race.

I guess Paddack is taking one for the team and is out there for the 3rd … first two batter two hits then Paddack messes up a bunt.

Paddack out - Crismatt in. If Crismatt becomes a sacrificial arm and just goes long to save the pen .. might see both Paddack and Crismatt optioned for two fresh RP.

Man, we are really shitty against the NL East this year!
