2021 Season
Quote from BoosterSD on April 27, 2021, 9:47 amShouldnt there be some roster moves coming sometime today? I could see Pham to IL, maybe either Ramirez or Nesbit sent down, due to some fresher arms being ready?
Plus I would imagine with the Minor League season starting soon, and Nola getting close, and Nola for Campusano move so that Campusano can get back to his development. He is clearly overmatched in the MLs, and needs to get some daily reps going.

Quote from Brian Connelly on April 27, 2021, 1:37 pmMaybe. They called Pham "day to day"... might not make a move until after this series, then do it retroactively... but that would leave the bench too short. So maybe O'Grady up Ramirez down?
BUT with RP, any guy sent down it's 10 days until they can be voluntarily (non injury) recalled. Can get yourself in trouble by having too many not available to return. For example, Crismatt can't come up until on/after May 2nd unless someone gets hurt.
We'll see on Nola; this series or next hopefully. Would be ideal timing for Campusano to go down & head out with his Minors team (probably AA).

Quote from fenn68 on April 27, 2021, 2:24 pmThink any roster moves are entwined with a lot of other considerations.
Yes, send down Ramirez to O'Grady makes some sense IF Pham can't go (but we don't know that yet) or if some combo of Pham / Myers has limitations ... need fielders. However, not being able to recall either of Ramirez or Crismatt near term (baring an injury) may (or may not) be a concern with the rest of the pen rested yesterday and then again on Thursday.
Then add we have zip idea how O'Grady is doing at the alternate site (or is Marcano doing better)? In the pen, is one of Thompson / Norwood / Espinosa / Humphreys looking good for the pen? If so, maybe little worry about Ramirez / Crismatt not being recalled.
Then throw in the potential / maybe / could be activation of Lamet now / soon / whenever this week (or not). Do you "save" the optioning of Ramirez until then?
Is there another option (now or near term) of another 60 day IL (Ona, Altavilla?) if the Padres want to add a non-roster RP who is looking good at that alternate site and "better" than the rostered options.
The "timing" of all these moves interrelate and have future impact.
Keep in simple ... IL Pham / call up O'Grady. Make sure Pham is full healthy for the full season with the extra rest and keep the bench full. Activate Lamet and option Ramirez.

Quote from fenn68 on April 27, 2021, 2:50 pmWell don’t know how this evolved but a week ago Paddack gave up a bunch of unearned runs (Profar error). His season ERA was under 4.00.
Today it was announced that MLB has change that error to a hit and as a result Paddack’s ERA becomes 5.50.
Don’t really remember the play (so no opinion on error or not) BUT just real curious the process that took a week (and who complained) to get the call changed.
Clearly not Paddack and highly doubt Profar ... did someone on MILW really want a hit on their stat line?

Quote from fenn68 on April 27, 2021, 4:00 pmPer Acee:
1. Pham available to PH tonight (so drop the IL idea)
2. Lamet will throw a bullpen tomorrow ... if feels fine ,,, maybe activation late in or after SF?
3. Nola still maybe this weekend.

Quote from 84padres on April 27, 2021, 7:29 pmI'm starting to think Paddock is just snakebit . Grisham makes that catch 99.9 % of the time.
I'd like to see Lamet start the day before an off day just in case. Hate to see the bull pen blown up again

Quote from Brian Connelly on April 28, 2021, 8:44 amPaddack is improving which is really important to Pads long term fortunes. I'm not too worried about a SP giving up runs in the 6th inning 80+ pitches in..... totally different than a 2nd inning implosion.
The bats & especially hitting with RISP are the issue. Our Lineup should be strong & deep enough to pressure the P, not our hitters when RISP.
That was very flat performance. Inensity of LAD series was off the charts, and hangover from last game evident to both teams: LAD dropped 1st 2 to Reds.
With their 3 game losing streak, no one talking about San Fran tied for 1st @ 15-7. +20 Run differential. They're "real" in my book. Need to find a way to break out offensively today, win this one, and gear up for another big series!

Quote from MrPadre19 on April 28, 2021, 11:54 amLooking at the standings...even though we are barely at .500 we do have 13 wins.
The best teams in baseball right now only have 15.
So all it would take is a 4-5 game winning streak to have the best record in MLB.
But...one game at a time.Beat Widener tonight(who dominated us last time out) and then take at least two from the Giants.
If we can take the Giants series we will be in great shape going into May which only has a few tough opponents(SF,STL,Hou)
That all being said....I would feel SO much better if we could get on a decent winning streak. We haven't really had one other than against the Rangers.
Just getting the offense going would make me feel a lot better actually

Quote from fenn68 on April 28, 2021, 7:13 pmPadres are either going with a full bullpen day (if the game is close) or let one RP “eat it” for the team. If Ramirez, then he might just get left in AZ and ? called up.

Quote from MrPadre19 on April 28, 2021, 7:38 pmAs worried as I am about the health of our starters I’m more worried about our offense!
We should be pounding these Az Starters!
As I type this we give up another Bomb!
2-0
Ugh!
