Tonight's lineup: Myers back, but Grisham still out. Caratini catching 3rd+ game in a row (?) Night after Day with no travel, but still... must really not have wanted to lose 2 LH in lineup vs Woodruff.

They need to rotate Kim in for the middle INF, but tough vs elite RHP... maybe just game 3?

A total lackluster performance from a team that spent a lot of energy during the LAD and might be guilty of looking forward to this weekends series in LA.
If you keep focusing on 19 games in a season, the season will get away from you fast. I know, we want to win the division. We still need to focus on the other 143 games in the season as well. The performance against the Pirates and last nights game will not suffice to get us where we need to be!

A let down is normal but gotta give Brandon Woodruff credit....he is very tough....the Brew Crew is a good team. Looking ahead.....I doubt it...these guys know you don't win the division in April but know you can really screw yourself by playing badly....they are fine.
I was more bummed Musgrove got no offense....he wiffs 13 and gives up two solo shots and takes the loss....ouch

Woodruff & Burnes tonight have been elite, ace-level SP so far in 2021.... but Pads are going to have to figure out a way to beat guys like this. These are the guys you're going to see in the playoffs.
Early, but Pads are only 2-5 vs teams >.500 LAD "only" 4-3, but San Fran is actually 6-4. To be the best we've gotta beat the best.

It may be another week before our offense shows any real signs of life.
We have been running the gauntlet!
Buehler-Kershaw-Bauer-Woodruff-Burnes-Houser-Buehler-Kershaw-Bauer-Urias
Whew!
It wouldn't be surprising if our offense doesn't light it up during this 10 game stretch.
I think we will be looking forward to facing the Giants/Dbacks/Pirates and Rockies after this.

I doubt SD is looking forward to the Giants to get their bats healthy. The Giants SP has been some of the best in the game to start the season. 4 shutouts in 16 games. 25% of their games have been shutouts!
But as most have said, got to beat these guys, cuz they are the types that you play in post season.

Unlike the Dodgers and Brewers I don't expect the Giants pitching to hold up.
Gausman/Cueto/Descalfani/Sanchez/Webb
This does not scream a top 10 let alone a top 5 rotation come September.
2019 ERA:
Sanchez-5.89
Gausman-5.72
Cueto-5.06
Webb 5.22
Descalfani-3.89 but had a 4.93 in 2018.
Of course I could be wrong.....but its still so early I would expect them to settle back more towards their norms.
But if not....I need to find out who their Pitching Coach is and how we can get him!

Corbin Burnes's numbers so far are simply ridiculous.
In 18 innings he has "30" K's and "0" walks.
He's only allowed "4" hits and 2 HBP.
If it wasn't for one solo homerun he would still be perfect.
He's struck out more than half the batters he's faced.

Burnes stats look like Joe Musgrove's September 2020 on steroids... how does he go from 3.5 K to BB 3 years running to 30 now!?!
This guy's overdue for a bad start. I don't follow other teams that closely, but I've literally never heard of him...
