Not worrying about SF vs. LAD order … just get the Padres in and, as history shows, the playoffs have their own life.
Have to be happy that the Padres’ starters did their jobs vs. one of the best hitting teams in MLB … perfection, no … but effective enough to win 2 of 3.
Arrieta just shocked me with his stuff and command after having watched him in his last game before the Padres got him … when he had nothing. The TV broadcast said the Padres got him to return to his former crossfire delivery and that made his stuff more dynamic. No idea (If true) who with the Padres made that happen but if that holds in his next few starts … a steal.
Paddack came out firing with a level of command I have not seen from him in a very long time. He really tamped down Houston (until those 7th inning HR) with few pitches. 0 BB / 0K … something we never see over 6 innings any more.
Musgrove was Musgrove … just a guts pitcher.

I really feel that these next two games against LAA, are going to set the tone for the remainder of the season.
If SD takes both, then I think we play around .700 ball for the balance of the season, and walk away from the Reds for the 2nd wild card.
If SD splits, then I think they around .500, and battle CIN for the balance of the season, and may get the WC by a game of two MAX.
If SD loses both, then I think the season is over, and they fade like a fart in the wind.

The issue is both the Reds and the Phillies play extremely easy schedules the rest of the way.
Even if the Reds fade we can't count out the Phils.
We basically have to win every series the rest of the way and that's saying something considering who we play.

I guess what worries me most about the remaining schedule; more than the opponents, is that most of the games are on the road. And we are a losing team on the road. On winning about 47% of the games on the road, compared to 59% at home. Tingler needs to do something to right the road game outcome, or this season is done.

I thought Hosmer was supposed to be a slick fielding 1B, he is not good. Why do you keep stretching into foul territory? Dont you realize that gives the runner more time?

To start the season I thought so many games left against the Giants in September was a good thing.
Never imagined they would be this good let alone the best team in baseball.
Now it’s so “not” a good thing.

This 22 game stretch to end the season is one of the most difficult I can remember. Absolutely brutal.

Cronenworth fractures finger (HBP) last night … will be out a few days with swelling (IL TBD).
Unclear whether Tatis returns to SS or Kim gets the shot. If not Tatis … that may reveal the level of concern about Tatis playing SS and future injury probability with the shoulder.
If SS goes to Tatis … likely we see Pham or Profar in LF.

I've been ready for Jr. back to SS for a few weeks. He's SO much more impactful in the middle of the action.
I see Frazier at 2B, and Pham and Myers back in the corners for the remaining 20+ games, and Hosmer back at 1B.
Cronenworth gets inserted back at 2B when he's healthy.
Tingler needs to set the lineup and keep it intact.

Season is done, wont even get the 2nd WC.
Tingler needs to go! Horrible in game decisions and inconsistent lineups.
Need a real pitching coach. Strength and conditioning coaches need to be worried as well.
Way too many good/great players to only be 7 games over .500!
