2021 In Season Trade Ideas
Quote from MrPadre19 on July 29, 2021, 3:12 pmI’m thinking Paddack may be involved rather than Weathers.
I don’t think AJ would part with Ryan for two months of even Scherzer.
Paddack plus a couple “good” prospects who aren’t Gore/Hassell/Abrams/Campy.
Pure guess obviously….we’ll know soon.
Wish they would hurry!

Its one thing for the Dodgers to get Scherzer…..we’ve beat him twice already….but Turner too?
Oh…and there’s still no rivalry!

Quote from fenn68 on July 29, 2021, 6:22 pmApparently the deal includes the LAD #1 and #2 prospects ... plus other prospects ... no word on the money split between teams.
#1 Ruiz, C, AAA ... MLB #41
#2 Gray, RHP, MLB ... MLB #42
I guess for those two the Padres equivalent would be Campusano (AAA) and Weathers (MLB) ... then the supplemental prospects TBD. Guessing the LAD will take on more money that the Padres would to seal the deal.

Quote from fenn68 on July 29, 2021, 6:42 pmShould be an interesting ride until 1 PM pacific tomorrow. With Scherzer / Turner to the LAD .... I would expect Preller going all in on Berrios at a minimum but likely more than one deal.

When I read this a couple hours ago I instantly felt sick

Quote from Randy Manese on July 29, 2021, 7:36 pmRich get richer - Dodgers and Yankees. Who would have thought!
From what I've read Campusano is generally considered the 2nd best catching prospect in the high minors behind Rutschman with Bart and Ruiz following next. It is true that Ruiz and Gray have good stats this year in the minors, but a Campusano/Weathers package, in my opinion, would be giving up more than the Dodgers are giving up with a toss-up on whoever they include as lower level prospects. I'd rather not trade Campusano given Nola's age/injury history and Caratini's modest offensive performance. Our catchers are currently better than we've had in a long time but Campusano has the potential to be an offensive force. For that reason, I'm glad we did not make that trade.
I'd turn my attention to acquiring both Berrios and Maeda from the Twins. Unless there is another team really driving up the price, I think we have a very good shot at getting them. I'd pass on Gray. Let's see what, if anything, Preller can pull off without stripping the farm system of any of the top 4 prospects. Of those 4, I'm leaning toward Gore as the biggest trading chip to move if we have to, then Hassell, Campusano and finally Abrams in that order as the most likely to less likely to be traded.
